True Blood

This American fantasy drama series had a seven-season run, picking up a Golden Globe and Emmy Award – as well as several nominations - along the way. Based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, the show follows Sookie Stackhouse – a telepathic waitress who encounters a new supernatural world where she meets Bill Compton, a Louisiana vampire. Despite having some more gruesome elements – as one would expect with a fantasy-thriller – romance is at its heart with relationships flourishing and falling apart throughout the seven seasons.

If you’re looking to take the next step in your relationship and commit to watching a boxset together, then this is the one for you!

Gone Girl

Now for a slightly alternative take on your classic Valentine’s Day watch, how about Gone Girl – the psychological thriller that had everyone talking when it first hit screens in 2014. Based on the novel by Gillian Flynn, the movie sees Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike play husband-and-wife couple, Nick and Amy. The film centres on Nick who becomes the focus of an intense media storm and becomes the prime suspect when his wife disappears. Despite being a psychological thriller, it’s still a love story at heart and an absolutely brilliant watch which is why it’s made the list.

The Last of Us: Episode 3

Episode 3 of hit show The Last of Us, is all about the love story between Frank and Bill. Having found each during the apocalypse, the pair’s friendship turns romantic with this episode following the progression of their relationship. An intimate and beautiful love story, this is a heartwarming watch and one that builds upon what was in the video game.

But it would be rude to start a series from midway through, so what we suggest is watching one episode a day starting from Monday 12th February which will bring you to episode three by Valentine’s Day.

Sex and the City

Built on romance and love, Sex and the City is the drama show that gave us six fantastic seasons of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha as they navigated through relationships, heartbreaks and friendship whilst living in NYC. And with each episode coming in around the 20 minute-mark, you can easily fly through a few episodes without realising!
