Everything you need to know about Emmy-Award winning Euphoria

Euphoria, based on an Israeli TV series of the same name, follows troubled high school friends as they navigate life through a haze of sex, drugs, social media and trauma.
Walking us through the story is Rue Bennett (Zendaya) a troubled young woman battling drug addiction and going in and out of rehab. Acting as narrator throughout the series, Rue tells us the ups and downs of the life of those around her.
Among them is Jules, a transgender girl who moves to the central town East Highland, California; Nate, popular jock with a raging temper; Cassie, a beautiful but insecure people-pleaser who looks to others for validation; the confidant and feisty Maddy who takes no prisoners; Lexi, Cassie’s younger sister and Rue’s childhood best friend; and Fez, Zendaya’s gentle-hearted drug dealer.
Starting while the gang are still navigating high school, Euphoria follows the characters as they each battle their own demons. Most prominently Rue deals with her consistent battle to remain sober, even when she doesn’t want to.
Created and written by Sam Levinson, the series also has heavy weights from the music industry onboard with Drake serving as an executive producer and Labrinth composing the music and soundtrack for the first two seasons.
First launching in 2019, Euphoria quickly became a worldwide sensation, with an unfiltered and brutal look at a struggling generation at a time when outside perceptions overshadow real needs for connection and survival.
Season three launched in 2026.

Did Euphoria end with season 3?
Yes - though the team at HBO waited until after the season finale aired to confirm the news.
In an emotional video shared on the HBO YouTube page, Zendaya was seen thanking the cast and crew as she said goodbye to the show.
“I just want to say thank you,” she said. “I’m incredibly grateful for every single one of you, and many of you have been here from the beginning and watched me grow up.
“It’s such a pleasure and an honour. Thank you so much.”
“I think in the end I wanted to tell an honest story about addiction. I also wanted to tell a story about grief and the emotional turmoil that it can create,” creator Sam Levinson added.
Prior to the confirmation, the team had long suggested that season three would be the show’s last.
Speaking to Deadline in February 2025, Francesca Orsi, Head of Drama at HBO, said: “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end.”
“I think you will be very satisfied with this season, and how we bring each of the characters’ whole narrative,” she added.
In April 2026, creator Sam Levinson confirmed there were no plans for season 4 at that point, telling Hollywood Reporter: "I write every season like it’s the last. If inspiration strikes and I have an idea, then I’ll talk to HBO. If it makes sense, it makes sense.
Explaining each series involves a “long shoot” to bring it to fruition, he added: “We just want to get this season right. So if this is it, great."
