Must-Watch TV Shows & Documentaries on Sky This Month
Katie Price: Nothing to Hide (Sky Documentaries)
One of Britain’s most enduring, and polarising, faces opens up her life in this new warts-and-all documentary produced by Louis Theroux’s Mindhouse Productions.
Since emerging as her alter ego ‘Jordan’ on Page 3 of The Sun in 1996, Katie Price has become one of the most photographed women of her generation. Her life has played out across newspapers, magazines, reality television and social media - from marriages, motherhood and multi-million-pound contracts to scandal, cosmetic surgery, bankruptcy and betrayal.
Now, 30 years since she launched into the public consciousness, Katie and those closest to her go beyond the headlines to reveal the unfiltered truth behind her rise to fame, how she transformed herself into a tabloid sensation and commodified every possible aspect of her life – the good, the bad and the ugly.
Available from July 8th
Animal Control Seasons 1-4 (Sky One)
Recently renewed for a fifth season in the US, the hit workplace comedy makes its big debut on Sky, with seasons 3 and 4 airing for the first time on these shores.
Joe McHale (Community) stars as Frank, the leader of a ragtag crew of animal control workers whose lives are complicated by the local wildlife – and we’re not just referring to the animals. A former cop, Frank’s experiences have left him jaded, but while he can’t quite grasp other human beings, he does have an uncanny understanding of all other creatures, great and small.
Available from July 11th
The Five Star Weekend (Sky Atlantic)
Hollis Shaw appears to have it all. She’s a best-selling author and celebrity chef that people think of when someone says “good taste”. But her life comes tumbling down when she suffers a terrible loss.
Hoping to get back on her feet, she arranges a getaway for her, her daughter, and three of her best friends – one from each chapter of her life – at her luxurious beach house in Nantucket. Joined by a surprise fifth guest, this weekend will see boundaries pushed, secrets exposed and whole lives reflected on in ways the friends could never have imagined.
An all star adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, starring Jennifer Garner, Chloë Sevigny, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, D’arcy Carden and Timothy Olyphant.
Available from July 16th
CIA (Sky Witness)
From Dick Wolf and the team behind FBI comes a fast-paced new crime drama following a maverick CIA case officer (Tom Ellis) and a straight-laced FBI agent (Nick Gehlfuss) forced to work side by side at the CIA’s New York Station. As they take on covert missions, terrorist threats and high-stakes international conspiracies, the unlikely duo discover that their biggest strength may be their differences.
Available from July 23rd
Gomorrah: The Origins (Sky Atlantic)
A new chapter of one of the most acclaimed international dramas in modern times opens up this July as we return to Naples for this prequel series to the Sky Italia Original Gomorrah.
Set against the backdrop of the 1970s, Gomorrah: The Origins tells the story of a young Pietro Savastano and his first steps into the criminal underworld. Exploring the events, ambitions and betrayals that shaped one of television’s most notorious mob bosses, Pietro rises from the streets of Secondigliano and falls under the influence of a powerful local kingpin. Along the way, he must decide whether a life of crime is truly his destiny - or if love offers a way out.
Available from July 28th.
