UK Cinemas releases this December: From Avatar: Fire and Ash to Anaconda

Some of the biggest films of the year are making their way to your local cinema this month, and here’s what you can use your two free tickets to a Vue cinema on.

A year on from the original horror at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, security guard Mike has tried to move on, keeping his young sister Abby in the dark about what happened.

But Abby, who had grown attached to the animatronic animals at the parlour, wants to reconnect with them – so sneaks out to see them. She soon comes to regret it though as Freddy, Bonnie and the gang start a new series of terrifying events.

It Was Just An Accident

Release Date: December 5th

In Iran, a motorist accidentally running over a dog triggers a chain of events when he seeks help from Vahid, who recognises him from a dark moment of his past. Vahid believes the man is someone who once tortured him – and remembers him as “Peg Leg” due to his prosthetic limb.

Impulsively deciding to kidnap the man, Vahid presents him to a group of fellow former prisoners to decide what to do next. But soon doubts over whether he is the man in question begins to grow.

Eternity

Release Date: December 12th

In this new romantic comedy, Elizabeth Olsen stars as the newly dead Joan. Given one week to decide where to spend her afterlife, Joan finds herself torn when she’s reunited with both the men she married during her life. Her first love, Luke (Callum Turner), who died in the Korean war shortly after they were wed, and her long-time second husband, Larry (Miles Teller), with whom she built her entire life and family.

Eleanor The Great

Release Date: December 12th

Following the death of her best friend, 94-year-old Eleanor moves from her home in Florida for a new life in New York with her daughter.

Desperate for new friends, Eleanor finds herself feeling at home among a support group of Holocaust survivors. While she has no stories of her own, she instead uses those of her dead best friend.

But when she’s outed for being a liar, things quickly spiral out of control and take on a life of their own.

Silent Night, Deadly Night

Release Date: December 12th

Young Billy is left traumatised forever when he witnesses Santa Claus murder his parents, he grows up swearing vengeance on the Christmas season.

So every year, he dons the iconic red suit and executes his own, twisted form of bloody justice in the shape of a massacre for those he considers have been naughty, not nice.

However, when his latest location sees him actually form a true, human connection, can his desire to be a better person overtake his bloodlust?

Avatar: Fire & Ash

Release Date: December 19th

James Cameron’s fantasy epic continues in this latest addition to the Avatar series. Picking up a year on from 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water, Jake and Neytiri are living with their family among the Metkayina clan.

However, they soon encounter “the Ash people”, a new and violent Na’vi tribe led by Verang – someone who has become attached to Jake’s sworn nemesis, Quaritch.

With peace on Pandora under threat, Jake and Neytiri have to do what it takes to stop a war – no matter the consequences.

Marty Supreme

Release Date: December 26th

Loosely based on the story of Marty Reisman, Marty Supreme stars Timothée Chalamet as a young man in New York City during the 1950s.

His dream? To become a table tennis champion. And he’s willing to go to hell and back to achieve it.

The Housemaid

Release Date: December 26th

Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried star in this psychological thriller about what goes on behind closed doors. Millie (Sweeney) desperate for a new life, think she’s found what she’s looking for when she gets a job as a live-in housemaid for the Winchesters – an affluent family with what seems to be the perfect life.

However, she soon discovers not everything is as it appears, with dark secrets emerging and twisted mind games taking hold.

Sentimental Value

Release Date: December 26th

Following the death of their mother, sisters Nora and Agnes are reunited as they’re forced to face Gustav – their film director father who abandoned the family when the girls were still young. Over the years, the girls went their separate ways – Nora focusing on her career as a rising actress, while Agnes embraced life away from the spotlight with her own family and children.

When Nora refuses the lead role in his autobiographical screenplay, which he is determined to be his ticket back to the limelight, Gustav hires American star Rachel Kemp instead. But as filming gets underway, the family’s fractured relationship takes centre stage.

The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants

Spongebob is back on a brand new adventure, and this time, in a bid to prove to Mr Krabs that he’s brave, he’s trying to hunt down the legendary ghost pirate, The Flying Dutchman – but to do so he must navigate the deepest depths of the ocean.

Anaconda

Release Date: December 26th

In this comedy-horror, Griff and Doug (Paul Rudd and Jack Black) are two middle-aged best mates who are beginning to feel old. In order to achieve a lifelong dream, they decide to head to the Amazon to recreate their favourite childhood movie, Anaconda.

But not long after arriving in the jungle with their crew, things go disastrously wrong when an actual giant Anaconda starts trying to hunt them down.
