But if you want to make use of those free Vue tickets – whether you’re in London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester or anywhere else – here’s what you use your free tickets on this month.

Song Sung Blue

Release Date: January 1st

Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman star in this larger-than-life tale based on the heart wrenching real-life story of Mike and Claire Sardinia – aka Lightning and Thunder.

Bonding over their shared love of music, Mike and Claire start out as friends as they form a Neil Diamond tribute band, building an impressive fan base and falling in love in the process.

But when disaster strikes, their love is put through the ultimate test for their art – and their marriage – to survive.

Hamnet

Release Date: January 9th

In this period heartbreaker, Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley star as William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes.

When their son, Hamnet, dies at just 11 years old, both William and Agnes are crushed – and the pair drift apart as they process their grief in different ways.

As Agnes is forced to grieve away from her husband in Stratford, William heads to London and throws himself into his work: eventually creating one of his greatest works, Hamlet.

Rental Family

Release Date: January 16th

Phillip Vandarploeug (Brendan Fraser) is an aspiring actor in Japan who, after work dries up following a toothpaste commercial, picks up work for Rental Family: a unique business that requires him to stand-in as family members and friends for people for events.

Although initially finding the job bizarre, he eventually finds himself bonding with his clients, discovering a new purpose in his life, and a human connection he never thought he needed.

Mercy

Release Date: January 23rd

In a not-too-distant future, Detective Chris Raven (Chris Pratt) finds him on the wrong side of the law when he’s accused of murdering his wife.

Strapped to a chair and given access to a computer database, now he needs to prove his innocence to an AI judge (Rebecca Ferguson) in just 90 minutes or face execution for the crime.

The History of Sound

Release Date: January 23rd

Based on the stories of Ben Shattuck, The History of Sound follows two men who make efforts to record folk songs around Maine.

First meeting at Boston Music Conservatory in 1917, singer Lionel Worthing and composer David White have an undeniable connection, but their relationship is stifled by the impending First World War and the world’s outlook on homosexuality.

When the war is over, the pair embark on a journey to record folk songs, in a trip that makes a lasting impact on both of their lives.

Is This Thing On?

Release Date: January 30th

Loosely inspired by the life of Liverpool stand-up comedian John Bishop, directed by Bradley Cooper and starring Will Arnett, Is This Thing On? follows the story of Alex – a down-on-his luck working class man who finds himself at a loss in life.

Facing divorce from wife Tess and with nothing to lose, Alex finds a surprise new purpose when he vents his frustrations in the form of a stand-up comedy routine at a New York club.

As his stand-up career unexpectedly takes off, Alex must navigate a new relationship dynamic with Tess after 20 years of marriage.
