Uglies

Everything you need to know about Uglies
Based on the 2005 young adult novel by Scott Westerfield, Uglies is set in a dystopian world 300 years in the future, where the government imposes cosmetic surgery on their people at the age of 16.
The world believes that if you look the way you want, conflict can be eradicated.
Those who have not undergone surgery are called an “ugly” until they conform.
In the film, we’re introduced to Tally Youngblood, who is getting close to the age of 16, and eager to prepare herself to become a “pretty.”
However, when her friends start undergoing their transformations, and another friend runs away to outcasts known as The Smoke, Tally goes on a journey that upends everything she thought she wanted.
The film was released on Netflix in September 2024, and at the time of writing (March 2026) there are currently no plans confirmed for a sequel.
