Everything you need to know about Maisie Adam: Appraisal
For Appraisal, Maisie heads to her hometown and performs at The Harrogate Theatre for this 90-minute special.
Now five years into her time as a stand-up comedian, the star gives herself a brutally funny performance review of what she’s done – a workplace appraisal, if you will – with several hundred ‘bosses’ watching her.
No pressure then.
As she reflects on her achievements and success, viewers will see why she’s an award-winning comic – let’s hope she avoids the dreaded “organisational restructure”.
Who is Maisie Adam?
Maisie Adam is a 30-year-old British comedian, TV personality and podcaster originally from Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Initially, Maisie wanted to pursue a career in acting, attending the National Youth Theatre in 2010 and 2012, before going on to study acting at the East 15 Acting School in Southend on Sea.
In 2015, she landed the Laurence Marks sitcom-writing mentorship, and the following year she graduated with a BA in Acting & Community Theatre.
However, she struggled to find work after graduating, leading her to move home with her parents and start stand-up comedy while working as a temp.
In 2017, she attended Edinburgh Fringe Festival and won the So You Think You’re Funny? contest, an annual event for new comedians. Other previous winners of the contest include Aisling Bea, Ivo Graham, Tom Allen and Peter Kay.
She returned to the festival the next year with her first full comedy show, Vague.
Since then she has become a regular face on TV, and in December 2019 launched a podcast, That's a First!, with fellow comedian Tom Lucy.
In 2023 she joined forces with Suzi Ruffell for Big Kick Energy, a podcast that focuses on women’s football.
She has been married to Mike Dobinson since 2023, and now lives in Brighton.
Where else can I see Maisie Adam?
Before Maisie found fame, she made her first TV appearance on The Chase in 2016, but was knocked out by Paul Sinha.
Maisie has become a regular face on TV since starting her career as a stand-up comedian, particularly on comedy panel shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats, QI, Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You?
In 2021, she was chosen to be the narrator for ITV2 reality dating show, The Cabins, which was initially billed as their winter series akin to Love Island. It ran for two seasons.
She has also been a prominent face for Soccer Aid, appearing at the charity game for UNICEF and appearing on a special episode of Tipping Point for the event in 2023.
Maisie has also been a ‘super substitute’ and participant for Sky’s A League of Their Own since 2021, also appearing on spin-off A League of Their Own: Road Trip.
She will return to screens for A League of Their Own: The Rally, next year.
