Based in a distant future, Raised by Wolves focuses on two androids, Father and Mother, as they’re tasked with raising human children on planet Kepler-22b, after Earth is destroyed in a great war between militant atheists and religious order, the Mithraic.

Bringing 12 embryos with them to bring to term and raise, it is the hope that the planet can be colonized and they can restart civilisation without religious influence.

But Father and Mother soon learn that is easier said than done with its harsh conditions and soon only one child remains, and the arrival of a group of Mithraic survivors threatens their hopes even further.

But Mother soon discovers to have her own unique abilities, and as her maternal instincts to protect the colony kick in, she will grapple with her own beliefs as secrets about Kepler-22b and its ancient inhabitants emerge.

House Of The Dragon

The fantasy franchise that’s hard to beat, House Of The Dragon is set in the world first established on our screens by Game Of Thrones.

Set 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones, House Of The Dragon centres on a core moment in Westeros history, with the ruling Targaryen family torn apart in an inter-family civil war that later becomes known as ‘the Dance of Dragons’.

The house is divided into two factions: The Greens, led by Aegon II Targaryen, and The Blacks, led by Rhaenyra Targaryen. Both of whom are the children of King Viserys, and both of whom believe they have the legitimate succession claim to the Iron Throne.

As the factions get violent and loyalties are tested, it doesn’t take long for blood to be spilled as battle commences at a cost greater than either side appreciates.

House Of The Dragon has run for two seasons, with three and four confirmed to continue and conclude the story, so now is the best time to start watching and catch-up if you haven’t yet.

The Nevers

Created by Joss Whedon, The Nevers is set in Victorian London, where a mysterious event grants a select group of people, mainly women, extraordinary abilities.

Becoming known as “The Touched”, among those affected is Amalia True, an impulsive and at times irresponsible widow who can see into the future, and Penance Adair, a brilliant inventor who can see energy patterns.

Together, the pair lead a haven for The Touched at St. Romaulda's Orphanage, while navigating societal prejudice and sinister forces working against them.

Devoted to protecting their found family, they soon uncover a conspiracy involving political elites, a murderous gang, and a dangerous woman named Maladie, whose powers make her a terror to all.

As they deal with this all, a secret war brews between factions who seek to exploit or control the Touched for their own gain.

In the dystopian future of year 2143, where an oppressive government known as the Commonwealth have control, Sky cop Ash Harper finds herself in trouble when she is falsely accused of treason and sentenced to life on a remote prison planet.

During her transport aboard a high-security prison ship, a group of dangerous female convicts, led by Tula Quik, stages a mutiny and takes control of the ship.

Soon, Ash is forced to join the fugitives as they flee across the galaxy, who each with their own motives and secrets for getting involved in the mutiny.

While Tula seeks freedom and revenge, Ash struggles with her loyalty to the system that betrayed her and her growing bond with the rebels.

In the year 2199, young Jax Zhou finds a new purpose at Earth’s Space Training Academy following the tragic death of her parents, who were killed in an attack on the New Portland colony where she lived.

While at the Academy, she learns to defend the galaxy from sinister threats, but soon discovers more about herself as things get complicated – and she realises she may be the key to humanity’s survival as they know it.

The show, first launching on The CW in the US, ran for two seasons, totalling 23 episodes.

A Discovery of Witches

A Discovery of Witches follows the story of Diana Bishop, a tenured historian at Yale University who hides her magical heritage after her parents, both powerful witches, were killed when she was younger.

Heading to England’s Oxford University for her research, she accidentally summons a bewitched manuscript, Ashmole 782, while at the Bodleian Library. The manuscript, which is unreadable, is believed to contain information about the origins of the supernatural.

Desperate to discover what the manuscript is hiding, she reluctantly seeks the help of geneticist Matthew Clairmont, who is also a vampire – a supernatural species with an uneasy history with witches.

But this uneasy alliance later paves way for a forbidden romance as the pair join forces to protect the book and discover the mysteries it’s keeping.

Avenue 5

Something a little more light-hearted, but no less sci-fi, Avenue 5 is the creation of Veep and The Thick Of It creator Armando Iannucci.

Set on a luxurious space cruise ship some time in the future, the crew and passengers of Avenue 5 are thrown into chaos after a malfunction knocks it off course.

The ship’s incompetent captain, Ryan Clark (Hugh Clark), and the eccentric billionaire owner of the vessel, Herman Judd (Josh Gad), struggle to maintain order (or even deal with each other) as passengers face the reality of a years-long journey back to Earth.

Soon, the overworked crew and frustrated passengers start to clash, leading to absurd situations and escalating tensions thanks to its limited supplies, technical failures and the bizarre relationships between everyone on board.
