Season 5 Episodes Recap
Series five is an eight-episode series. With Vinnie and the gang in deeper with the dangerous MacDonagh brothers and drug lord Manolito, they’re in more trouble than ever. But trouble is what they do, and together, they’re legends.
Episode 1 – “Eddie”
Six top-of-the-range cars on a plate - it should’ve been a walk in the park. But life in Hawley is never easy, and their inside man falls ill only to be replaced by someone a little trickier, Eddie (played by Lee Mack). Events transpire, ending with the gang kidnapping him, but Eddie is a busy guy. A chaotic 24 hours ensues as they act less like kidnappers and more like personal chauffeurs, taking him to a series of bizarre appointments that he cannot afford to miss.
Episode 2 – “The Missing Body”
It’s funny what you find on the farm… The gang discover an old WWII bunker, but it’s not their discovery for very long. The MacDonagh brothers arrive on the scene to see what can be extracted from it, but their visit ends in calamity when Barry stands on a still-live land mine… and he’s all over the place. Also in pieces, (figuratively), Davey demands Vinnie’s help in arranging the funeral. But as is the Brassic way, you can’t leave a car around these parts without it getting nicked. The hearse is stolen, and what’s left of Barry’s body is in it - if the gang don’t get it back, there’s a good chance the next funeral being arranged will be theirs.
Episode 3 – “Hans”
When a young German man comes to town looking for Tommo, one might assume it’s one of his past amours – but you’d be wrong, on this occasion at least. Hans is in fact the result of a fling Tommo had with a foreign exchange student some 18 years back. Not one to have ever considered starting a family, Tommo is way out of his wheelhouse. Luckily the gang are on hand to help him spend some quality time with his newfound family. Obviously it’s a total disaster.
Episode 4 – “Sweet Sixteen”
Having not heard from him in fifteen years, Erin finally gets word from her Dad. Or more specifically, his estate. The old man’s died. Erin heads to Blackpool - the town where she grew up - to handle his affairs, with Vinnie and the gang coming along for moral support. While it transpires Erin has been left her dad’s flat, she’s also been landed with a £10,000 debt to the local criminal gang. With just 48 hours to pay back the debt, Vinnie pulls out all the stops to organise their biggest heist yet… and it’s going to involve the local amusement arcade, a clown, and some giant gobstoppers.
Episode 5 – “The Rat Catcher”
Jim’s got a rat problem. A big one. But when he brings in a professional ratcatcher, it’s pretty clear that he’s not the only one with problems. This exterminator is an anarchist with serious issues – he’s dealing with heartbreak and serious hoarding tendencies. Always ones to help out a new friend in need, Vinnie and co get to work on sorting through his possessions. However, amongst the rubbish they find some surprising items – a mysterious piece of human skin being one of them…
Episode 6 – “Caravan of Courage”
There’s trouble down at the Travellers’ site… again. Carol and Ashley’s Great Gran has had her whole caravan stolen. All of her possessions are in there, including her life savings, and even more devastating, her beloved stuffed cat. The rival Traveller gang are the prime suspects, and unfortunately they’re not the sort you want to get on the wrong end of. While they try to find a way around this, Tyler is having a hard time with bullies at school and has taken to bunking off. One thing leads to another and Vinnie and Erin make an appearance at an unforgettable parent’s BBQ.
Episode 7 – “Albert”
Cardi and Carol’s marriage is on the rocks again, and after a giant row Cardi sets off on a mission to wreck his nemesis Russell Hardwick’s golf course. This being Cardi, animals are involved, namely a giant rabbit and a crocodile. Meanwhile, Vinnie gets word on what happened to Dylan – and local drug lord Manolito is involved. Time to pay his exotic zoo another visit…
Episode 8 – “The Lowry Heist”
It’s crunch time as things come to a head with the gang, Manolito and MacDonagh. As things reach fever pitch, Vinnie plans their biggest heist to date – stealing one of L.S. Lowry’s more questionable pieces of art. Meanwhile, the gang gets a new member as Sugar has her baby, and Vinnie and Erin make a life-changing decision.
