Season 1 Episodes Recap
Episode 1
Vinnie O’Neil is a troubled lad. He’s a petty thief who lives out in the woods near Hawley in Lancashire, who struggles with his bipolar disorder and has a peculiar disposition toward quinoa. To top it all off, his hairline is receding. Luckily for him, he has a gang of mates who are there to prop him up and help him in his legally dubious shenanigans. When Farmer Jim, the xenophobic nutcase who allows the boys to grow weed on his land, tasks Vinnie and the crew with stealing a Shetland pony, it seems like a simple enough job. However, a mishap involving a jar of chloroform and a pigeon called Nigel put them on the local crime lord’s radar.… Meanwhile, Vinnie also has to play babysitter when his best mate Dylan sneaks off to a lucrative poker game, leaving his girlfriend Erin’s son, Tyler, in his care.
Episode 2
It’s a sad day at The Rat & Cutter. The local gentlemen’s club and keystone of Hawley has lost one of its most legendary figures, Big Sandy. Without the funds to give their friend the send- off she deserves, Vinnie and the gang decide to get the money from the Rat & Cutter’s repulsive proprietor, Glen Glenson. All they need to do is break into the club from below and crack the safe where Glen’s been keeping all his girls’ well-earned tips. But when a hungry Cardi drops the ball while on lookout duty, Vinnie and his team end up trapped in sewers and face to face with the mother of all fatbergs.
Episode 3
Hailing from a proud family of travellers, Ash doesn’t get much say when he’s challenged to an unsanctioned bare-knuckle fight by a rival family. Luckily Ash, as the muscle of the group, can take care of himself, but some shady goings-on during the match wind him up in hospital. With his family’s pride on the line, it’s up to Vinnie to step up and fight in his place. With the gang in his corner he’s got half a chance, but there’s a huge secret waiting for him after the match is over.
Episode 4
Still in the pocket of local kingpin Terence McCann, Vinnie takes on a job that’s a little fishy… As an angry housewife approaches the boys for some wet work. All they have to do is kill off her husband’s prized koi carp collection. The thing is, these are some expensive fish. Vinnie comes up with the bright idea of pretending to do away with the slippery pondlife and instead selling them on for a watery payday. Unfortunately, things aren’t quite as easy as that, and the plan ends up leaving Tommo a little green around the gills. Meanwhile, Cardi scores a hole in one when he finds a way to make some serious green at the local golf course.
Episode 5
Trouble comes to town when Erin’s dodgy brother, Ronnie, is back on the scene after making a break from his stint at Her Majesty’s pleasure. The timing couldn’t be worse, as Vinnie and the gang are in the midst of a bitter feud with rival weed growers the MacDonaghs, and his interference during a midnight raid on their farm puts them in the sights of Vinnie’s mortal enemy from school turned local policeman, Carl Slater. One accidental kidnapping later, and it’s up to Erin to find a way to get them out of trouble.
Episode 6
Vinnie’s spontaneous decision to steal a car has massive repercussions when it turns out it’s filled with antiques belonging to Terence McCann. When the crime boss finds out, he brings Vinnie in and threatens him with some serious penalisation unless he gets his prized possessions back. Unfortunately, McCann’s most beloved piece of objet d’art – a hand-carved phallus – is now in the possession of an art loving canine. With all alternatives exhausted, and with little Vinnie on the line, the gang have to go all- out to convince McCann that Vinnie is out of the equation. Meanwhile, as Erin prepares for her college exam, Dylan discovers a heartbreaking secret she’s been keeping from him.
