When the news of Sex and the City’s revival series, And Just Like That… broke, fans across the world were ecstatic at the thought of being reunited with some of their favourite characters from the hit 90s/00s TV series.
But we know it’s been a while and that memories may be hazy, so here’s a breakdown of all the returning and new characters in And Just Like That…
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker)
Carrie Bradshaw is a New York City woman, known for her iconic style, love for designer shoes and for, of course, writing her massive Sex and The City column for The New York Star, discussing her candid musings on sex, relationships and the complexities of modern dating.
Achieving icon status for many New York Women, 20 years on, Carrie is in a new phase of her life. After marrying her “Mr Big” John, Carrie has found herself single again in her 50s after his tragic death from a heart attack.
With a new home, new mission and a new world of dating to navigate, Carrie soon finds herself reconnecting with old flame, Aidan Shaw – who is now a divorced father-of-three living in Virginia. Status? It’s complicated.
Sarah Jessica Parker is an accomplished American actress, producer and like Carrie, she too is considered a fashion icon. She rose to fame for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the hit TV series, Sex and the City, which earned her critical acclaim, multiple awards (we’re talking Emmy’s, Golden Globe’s, SAG’s) and a dedicated fan base. Beyond this role, SJP has starred in a number of films including The Family Stone and theatre productions.

Why did Samantha and Carrie fall out?
Like many Sex and the City Fans, we too were devastated to hear that Samantha would not feature in And Just Like That…. But after Carrie fired Samantha as her publicist, the pair fell out with Samantha moving to London and cutting off contact with her.
However, in the final episode of Season 1 we saw Carrie reaching out to Samantha and the pair arranging to meet for drinks. So, are Carrie and Samantha friends again? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
How old is Carrie supposed to be?
In an episode of And Just Like That… Season 1, Miranda revealed that Carrie is 55 years old which would mean she’s now around 56. This means when Sex and the City first premiered, Carrie would have been 31.
Does Carrie ever say ‘And Just Like That…’?
Just like Sex and the City, each episode of And Just Like That… closes with Carrie reciting this iconic line.
Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon)
At one point a no-nonsense lawyer, Miranda has turned her focus on human rights and is working at a non-profit. Often the voice of reason, Miranda continues to be a straight shooter for her friends when they need a reality check. But when it comes to her own love life? She’s not so quick to listen to her own advice.
Married to Steve for decades and with her son Brady now a teenager, Miranda has an epiphany when she meets and falls for the enigmatic non-binary stand-up comedian, Che Diaz. Wanting to explore her sexuality, she opts to leave Steve for a shot at love with Che in Los Angeles… but it didn’t quite work out as she’d hoped.
Back on the dating scene and now out as bisexual, Miranda is still a career woman at heart – which comes in handy when a romantic interest, BBC journalist Joy, enters her life.
Cynthia Nixon is an American actress, who gained widespread recognition for her role as Miranda Hobbes in the TV series, Sex and the City. She has also appeared in numerous films, TV shows and theatre productions – with Cynthia receiving a Tony Award for her role in Rabbit Hole. Outside of acting, Cynthia is a passionate activist and even ran for Governor of New York in 2018.

Does Miranda come out on And Just Like That…?
In And Just Like That… we see Miranda exploring her sexuality and having a queer awakening, with Carrie’s podcast co-host Che. While she doesn’t explicitly ‘come out’, the season ends with Miranda having ended her marriage with Steve and entering into a relationship with Che.
Are Miranda and Steve together in And Just Like That…?
Miranda and Steve are still together when And Just Like That… begins but by the end, and after an affair (Miranda this time!), they decide to separate. To many it won’t come as a big shock, as Miranda and Steve were an unexpected pairing with many questioning how it could work, but it seems that over the years they grew more and more distant until they were no longer happy.
Charlotte York (Kristin Davis)
Always the hopeless romantic of the group, Charlotte found her fairytale ending with Harry Goldenblatt, the lawyer who helped her split from her first husband, Trey, in the original series.
22 years on and the couple are just as happy as ever, and are raising their children, Lily and Rock, as best they can – which is proving a minefield now they’re both teenagers and discovering their own sexualities and identities.
After years of being a stay-at-home mother, Charlotte decides it is time to re-enter the world of work to have something for herself, and returns to a fancy art gallery. She is always there for her friends, her family, and her beloved dog, Mr Richard Burton.
Kristin Davis is an American actress known for her work in both television and film. She gained widespread recognition in the mid-1990s, with her portrayal of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. Outside of this role, she is known for starring in films including Couples Retreat and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

Is Charlotte still with Harry in And Just Like That…?
Yes, they are still together. In fact, Charlotte and Harry are the only couple in Season 1 of And Just Like That… who are in a happy marriage and still in love with each other.
How old is Charlotte in And Just Like That…?
If we believe the theory that Charlotte moved to NYC in 1987 after graduating college, that makes Charlotte around 54 years old in And Just Like That…. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, that sounds about right!
John James Preston aka Mr Big (Chris Noth)

Why did Carrie call Mr Big, Mr Big?
Having been introduced to Mr Big in the pilot episode of Sex and the City, it took six seasons for us to find out what his real name was - John James Preston. But why did Carrie give him the nickname Mr Big? Well, you know those men with a big personality – the type that you’ll spot as soon as they enter the room and can’t help but gravitate towards? That’s why. Mr Big always seemed slightly superior and out of reach, hence the rather apt nickname.
Aidan Shaw (John Corbett)
Aidan Shaw is one of Carrie’s Big Loves – though ultimately they were never quite able to align their emotional or physical timelines to make it work.
Loving and kind-hearted, after splitting from Carrie in Sex and The City Aidan got married to Cathy and settled in Virginia for a quiet life, having three kids. (That didn’t stop him kissing Carrie during a run in in Abu Dhabi during Sex and The City: The Movie 2 though).
With his marriage to Cathy now over, and Carrie now single after the death of Big, it looks like the time could finally be right for them to make it work. The only catch? He has to stay in Virginia for at least the next five years for the sake of his son, Wyatt, who has ADHD and when left alone crashed his car into a tree.
John Corbett is a country music singer and actor, who is best-known for his role as Aidan Shaw in Sex and the City. Beyond SATC, John has appeared in a range of projects, including films like My Big Fat Greek Wedding and TV shows such as Northern Exposure.

Did Carrie love Aidan?
The simple answer is yes, Aidan was one of only two true loves Carrie had. Despite facing many challenges as a couple, it was clear that Carrie had strong feelings for Aidan but ultimately it was a question of who she loved more – Aidan or Big.
Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez)
Che Diaz is a non-binary, stand-up comedian and podcast co-host alongside Carrie. Introduced as a character in And Just Like That… they encourage Carrie to get out of her comfort zone – even suggesting that she may lose her job if she doesn’t become more comfortable with discussing topics like masturbation on-air. Che is also Miranda’s love interest, with the pair hooking up while Miranda is still married to Steve, before ending the season in a relationship.
Sara Ramirez is a Mexican-American actor and singer, best known for their role on hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy where they played Dr Callie Torres. Outside of TV, Sara has acted in Broadway productions and even released music singles.

Why don’t people like Che on And Just Like That…?
It’s fair to say that Che Diaz was one of And Just Like That…’s more divisive characters. The introduction of Che marked the evolution of Sex and the City set in the 90s to And Just Like That… taking place in modern-day society. Add to the fact that Miranda’s marriage with Steve ended over her feelings for Che, some OG SATC viewers were quick to express their thoughts.
What is Che smoking on And Just Like That…?
Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that Che smokes a lot throughout And Just Like That… Season 1. Often seen smoking it from a pipe, Che loves to smoke weed and isn’t ashamed of it.
Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson)
Stanford Blatch has been a recurring character since the Sex and the City days and outside of the three women, is Carrie’s best friend. He is a gay talent agent who comes from an aristocratic family, with his wit and deep pockets securing him attractive dates. Willie Garson is an American actor, who has appeared in a number of films and TV shows. He is best known for playing Stanford Blatch on the series Sex and the City, but he’s also made appearances in other popular TV series including Friends, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and John from Cincinnati.

Is Stanford Blatch in Season 2?
Sadly, no. Despite making an appearance in Season 1 of And Just Like That…, Stanford Blatch won’t be appearing in Season 2 after his character was written out of the show due to the actor who plays his character, Willie Garson, passing away in September 2021.
What was the note from Stanford to Carrie?
As Stanford couldn’t face calling Carrie to tell her that he was leaving New York, he decides to leave her a note revealing that “By the time you read this I will be in Tokyo”. Later on in the episode Stanford’s husband, Anthony, clarifies that he couldn’t bring himself to tell Carrie face to face out of fear of disappointing her, so he thought a goodbye note would be more apt.
Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone)
Introduced in the original series as Charlotte’s gay best friend, Anthony is now a firm member of the group – ready to deliver harsh truths with a sarcastic tone but always with a good heart behind it.
Running bakery shop and café Hot Fellas, Anthony has become a New York sensation thanks to his employees tight-fitting uniforms and bulging… baguettes on sale.
After splitting from Stanford Blatch in season one, he seems to have found love again with younger Italian Stallion and heartfelt poet, Giuseppe.
Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker)
A new addition to the ladies’ inner circle, Lisa Todd Wexley is a powermom at Charlotte’s kids’ high school.
A hard-working mother-of-three, she is a woman who truly seems to have it all: a powerful political husband of 20+ years, a fancy career as a documentary filmmaker, a great sense of style and an ever greater sex life, all while still having time to look after her kids. But over 20 years later, Harry is finding himself struggling to perform in the bedroom, with a life-changing diagnosis threatening to derail the life he’s carved for himself and his family.
Evan Handler is an American actor best known for playing Harry Goldenblatt on Sex and the City and Charlie Runkle on Californication. Outside of his TV work, he has also appeared in several films including Taps and Ransom.

This revelation leads her to think that Big had been having an affair with Natasha and the paranoia sets in. After stalking her around New York, Carrie decides to contact her via email, Instagram and even visits her work. Talk about intense. But after bumping into each other in a coffee shop, Carrie discovers that Natasha had no idea about the money and doesn’t know why he left it to her.
Is it the same Natasha in And Just Like That…?
Don’t worry, your mind is not playing tricks on you. Hardcore SATC fans will be wondering where they’ve seen Natasha before but if you cast your mind back to Season 2 of Sex and the City you’ll remember when we first met Natasha – who soon became Big’s second wife.
Steve Brady (David Eigenberg)
Steve Brady started as Miranda’s on-off hookup before becoming her husband and father to her child. Steve is a nice guy who lives within his means working as a bartender. He is the polar opposite to Miranda but as they say opposites attract and that’s what makes this couple work. Until it doesn’t. After going through their fair share of ups and downs, from Miranda’s busy job as a high-powered lawyer to Steve cheating on her, at the end of Season 1 of And Just Like That… Steve and Miranda break up, so that Miranda can pursue a relationship with Che.

Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury)
Seema Patel is a fancy, self-made real estate broker whose services Carrie enlists when she decides to sell the apartment she shared with Mr Big. Soon she finds herself fitting right in with the group thanks to her love of a good cocktail and her own mission to find a good man.

However, she fears she will never find love, and while she does put up a steel wall, all she really wants is someone to share her lavish life with.

Is Lily the same actor in And Just Like That…?

Is Lily actually playing the piano in And Just Like That…?
