What is Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man about?
It’s 1940, and Britain is locked in the fight against Germany during World War II. In Birmingham, Tommy Shelby has abandoned his position as leader of the Peaky Blinders, living in a self-imposed exile.
However, he is set to face his most destructive reckoning yet when he is forced to return to the streets he once ruled – with his estranged son, Duke, now leading the Blinders with an iron fist and a new level of control over the community of Birmingham.
When Duke is approached by a mysterious man named Beckett, he is given an offer to commit an act of treason that could lose England the entire war. Will he take him up on the offer to make his mark within the gangster world?
With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy is forced to face his own demons and the son he barely knows.
Will he choose to confront his legacy, or decide to burn it to the ground once and for all?
The new feature-length film is written by the show’s creator Steven Knight (House of Guinness, A Thousand Blows), and directed by Tom Harper (A Gentleman in Moscow, This Is England ‘86).
How is Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man connected to the main series?
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is directly connected to the main Peaky Blinders series, which ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022.
The film picks up in 1940, six years after the end of the events of the final series.
The show continues to centre around Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders gangster group that rules Birmingham’s criminal underworld.
As a result, many of the characters we see are the same as the main series, with some new additions, and some actors being replaced in their roles due to the characters aging.
Will there be a new series of Peaky Blinders?
Yes! The BBC and Netflix confirmed in October 2025 that they are commissioning TWO new series of Peaky Blinders.
The series will jump forward in time to 1953, when Britain is recovering from the brutality of the Second World War. Birmingham is focusing its attention on its industrial industry, focusing on concrete and steel to rebuild the world that remains.
In a new era for the Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s reconstruction project presents a new opportunity for the gang – but it soon becomes a brutal contest.
Steven Knight said of the announcement: “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.
“The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”
