Looks can be deceiving. Peter Kingdom seems to have everything -- he's a man of some standing in the seaside town of Market Shipborough, he dresses well and has all the trappings of success. Why, then, does he wander along the beach and stare out to sea for hours at a time? Despite Peter's thriving legal practice, he must deal with his dysfunctional family (which includes his unstable sister) and his grief over his missing half brother and law partner, Simon.

Drama. Peter helps an injured Iraq War veteran come to terms with his future, and Lyle takes the reins when an attractive woman is discriminated against by the Army.

Episode 2Crop Circle Case

Crop circles in a local field grab the attention of the Market Shipborough sci-fi set, Lyle falls for his nemesis in a compulsory purchase case, and Beatrice fills in for Gloria.

Episode 3A Worthy Cause

Drama. Peter tries to find a middle ground in the minefield of scientific research and animal rights, and Nigel and Lyle set out to save an order of nuns from eviction.

Episode 4Blackmailing the Bench

Drama. Peter discovers the identity of his niece's true father and gets involved in a blackmail case, and Lyle mediates in a land dispute between golfers and druids.

Episode 5Family Pressure

Lyle tries to save his mum's allotment, Scott is suspended from school, Peter helps a family record their daughter's appearance in a school concert, and Snell gets married.

Episode 6Inheritance

Peter helps an aristocrat whose brother is selling off titles, and Lyle aids a small-holder taking on a pharmaceutical giant, while Beatrice learns to fish.
