What is Only Murders In The Building about?

In New York’s grand Arconia apartment building, three residents are bored with their lives – and find comfort in their love of true crime podcasts.

Charles Haden-Savage was once a beloved television star, fronting 90s TV crime series Brazzos, though his once bright career has dimmed. His friend, Oliver Putnam, is an eccentric Broadway director who is still eager for his moment in the spotlight, while neighbour Mabel is a down-on-her-luck struggling artist who can only afford to live in the apartment she’s in as her parents left it to her.

Despite their age difference, the three form a bond over their beloved podcasts – and decide to create their own when strange deaths start occurring in their building.

The trio make a bid to crack the case themselves – tracking it all on their own podcast, which soon becomes a cult hit.

But as they get a renewed sense of life, the group soon realise that they may be making themselves a target for their killers lurking around them…

First premiering in August 2021, Only Murders In The Building has become a firm comfort comedy favourite among viewers.

It has won seven Primetime Emmys and been nominated for 15 Golden Globes across its run to date.

What is the age rating of Only Murders In The Building?

Only Murders In The Building has been rated 15 in the UK, meaning it has been deemed unsuitable for young audiences.

This is due to:

  • Frequent use of profanity

  • Storylines centred around murders and death

  • Scenes of peril and injury

  • Some mild scenes of gore

  • Scenes of violence (real, comedic and imagined)

  • Some discussions around sex

This show is deliberately comedic in tone throughout most of its runtime, with blood, gore and peril often played for laughs rather than genuine threat or injury, except in the case of the central murder itself.
