Who is Ronan Keating?
Ronan Keating, born 1977, is a singer and TV judge from Dublin, Ireland. He is best known as the lead singer of Boyzone.
The youngest of five children to lorry driver Gerry and hairdresser Marie, Ronan grew up loving to sing and perform, which eventually led him to trying out for the band.
Prior to his time in the band, he showed promise as a track star.
Once in the band, Ronan became a prominent face in the industry, moving on to a solo career which continues to this day.
He also later became a regular judge on talent competitions in both the UK, Ireland and Australia – appearing on The X Factor: Australia from 2010 to 2014, All Together Now in 2018, and The Voice Australia, initially appearing in 2016 before returning for 2025.
He was also a mentor on The Voice Kids UK in 2022 and 2023, before appearing on The Voice of Germany in 2023 as well.

He continues to perform around the world as a solo artist.
Ronan has been married twice – first to Yvonne Connelly from 1998 to 2010, with whom he has three children, and to Storm Uechtritz from 2015 to present day, with whom he has two children.
He is also a grandfather of one, following the birth of his eldest son Jack’s first child.
He currently lives between Australia and the UK with Storm and their family.
How did Ronan Keating get involved with Boyzone?
Ronan was just 16 years old when he took his shot and auditioned for Boyzone in Dublin, Ireland, and was the youngest member of the group.
Ronan said he was inspired to audition because his family didn’t have much money and the band sounded ‘right up his street’.
For his audition, he performed James Taylor’s Fire and Rain, which caught the interest of Louis Walsh, the talent manager forming the ‘Irish version of Take That’.
After being recruited to the band, Ronan admits he knew that he was under threat of losing his position within the group, after overhearing music producer Ian Levine telling Walsh he “couldn’t sing”.
Despite this, to Walsh, Ronan became the jewel in the crown of the group, noting that he was “always trying to prove himself and had ambition”. Ronan and Stephen Gately were later to the front as the lead singers.
Walsh would later work with Keating as he pursued a solo career in 1999.
What songs did Ronan Keating release after Boyzone?
In 1999, Ronan opted to focus on his solo career, quickly landing the lead song When You Say Nothing At All on the soundtrack of blockbuster rom-com, Notting Hill.
Band manager Louis Walsh continued to work with him. They would part ways a year later, with both making public jabs suggesting a backstage feud. This was quashed by 2008.
Since this time, he has released 12 albums, several of which have gone multi-platinum.
