What is Andor about?
Set five years before the events of the original 1977 Star Wars movie, A New Hope, Disney+ series Andor follows the life of Cassian Andor, a thief who becomes a key part of the formation of the Rebel Alliance.
Andor flies under the radar of the Galactic Empire for years, on his own mission to find out answers from his past. But when he finally is brought to the Imperial Authority’s attention, his life changes forever.
Detailing life both within the Galactic Empire and those rebelling against it, Andor finds himself slowly revolutionised and joining the fight to take the oppressive empire down.
A political thriller at its heart, Andor centres on what it takes to stand up against a formidable power to create change.
It is the fourth live-action series based within the wider Star Wars franchise, launching in 2022 following The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The series leads us up to the events of the 2016 film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Andor proved to be a worldwide smash hit and was nominated for 128 awards during its run, winning 41 of those awards, including five Primetime Emmys.
The series maintains a strong 96% score on critics aggregate site RottenTomatoes – 96% for season one, and 97% for season two.
Empire Magazine said in their season two review: “The blood of this iconic franchise — the heart, the values, the triumph over evil — runs through its veins. It will make you fall in love with Star Wars, whether for the first time or the 50th.”
