She-Wolves: England's Early Queens

Medieval England historian, writer and presenter Helen Castor takes her 2010 book `She-Wolves: The Women Who Ruled Engand Before Elizabeth' to another level with this three-part documentary. Beginning with the Empress Matilda and her daughter-in-law, Eleanor of Aquitaine, the programme explores the lives of seven English queens who challenged authority in a male-dominated society, the fierce reactions they provoked and whether the term `she-wolves' was deserved.
