Portrait of life in Ireland's mountain communities, focusing on the lives of the people who live in four different mountain regions during one extraordinary year, beginning in January 2021. School principle Pól and his staff rush to prepare learning materials for the Slieve Aughty pupils following the announcement that the schools will not be reopening after Christmas while Séamus the sheep farmer contemplates a lonely rural existence amidst the beauty of the foothills of the Mournes. The Mac Cormac family make the most of the slower pace of lockdown life in the Wicklow Mountains. A few miles down the road, the Dowlings also find themselves with more time on their hands as their hotel has been forced to close its doors for the very first time, and the traditional musicians of Slieve Gullion enjoy a socially distanced music session.
