
Big Little Lies is back – and the ladies of Monterey have more on their plates than ever before.
On top of the school run, their work, and dealing with their families – now they have a murder cover-up to deal with.
While some deal with it better than others, Celeste’s worst nightmare comes to her door in the shape of her stepmother, Mary Louise.
Will the ladies keep their cool? Or is it just a matter of time before one of them cracks?

Season 2 Episode Recap
Big Little Lies season two is seven, hour-long episodes, and picks up in the immediate aftermath of season one.
Episode 1 - ‘What Have They Done?’
Following Perry’s death, the women are all trying to move on from what happened – starting with the school run, with the kids heading back for second grade.
But soon the five women find themselves being grilled by Perry’s mother, the newly arrived Mary Louise, who wants answers over what happened.
Meanwhile, Bonnie is struggling with her guilty conscience over what happened, which worries husband Nathan, who reaches out to Ed for advice.
Madeline is left less-than-pleased when Abigail makes a decision about her future, while Jane meets a guy on the beach, declaring her a member of the ‘Monterey Five’.
Episode 2 - ‘Tell-Tale Hearts’
After suffering from nightmares and struggling to sleep, Celeste puts herself in a dangerous situation that could cause her further trouble.
Worried about his wife, Nathan asks Bonnie’s parents to come and visit.
Jane is forced to confront her traumatic past as she tells Mary Louise about what Perry did to her, before being forced to tell Ziggy the truth about how he was conceived.
Madeline’s long-held infidelity is finally discovered by Ed, and Renata is left raging when her husband Gordon is arrested
Episode 3 - ‘The End of the World’
Bonnie continues to spiral as she spends time with her mother.
Renata hires a child psychologist to help Amabella when her daughter starts suffering from panic attacks at school – before trying to find someone to blame for her troubles.
Mary Louise starts investigating Jane and Ziggy, wanting to know more about them and refusing to believe anything negative about her own son.
Madeline and Ed take steps to save their marriage.
Episode 4 - ‘She Knows’
It’s Halloween in Monterey, and Mary Louise invites herself to a pumpkin carving event at Madeline’s house, before setting herself up in an apartment in the same building as Jane.
When Celeste finds out, the pair clash, but while they seem to later bury the hatchet, Mary Louise makes a bold move that infuriates her daughter-in-law.
Madeline and Ed’s marriage is hanging on by a thread, as is Renata and Gordon’s when they’re dragged into a bankruptcy hearing.
Amabella’s birthday party ends in tragedy for Bonnie.

Episode 5 - ‘Kill Me’
Celeste prepares to face off against Mary Louise in court as the battle for the twin boys commences.
Ziggy is bullied at school but finds he has two schoolmates willing to have his back.
Jane tries to take her new romance to the next level but struggles after her assault.
Celeste and Jane take their boys on a kayak trip.
Madeline tries to find a way to prove to Ed that she’s willing to fight for her marriage, but he gets a proposition at a bar.
Bonnie is left devastated when his mum makes a request of her, leading her to consider making a potentially devastating decision away from the Monterey Five – but spots a surprise face when she gets to the police station.
Episode 6 - ‘The Bad Mother’
As the trial begins between Celeste and Mary Louise for custody of the twins, Celeste is left devastated when the opposing lawyer tries to paint her to as a bad mother, asking pointed personal questions to her on the stand.
In return, she makes a bold choice to put her mother-in-law on the stand so she can get grilled herself.
Ed meets up with a familiar face, who continues to pursue him, but Madeline still wants to make their marriage work.
Jane has questions for her new boyfriend as she struggles to trust him. Bonnie makes a confession to her mother in hospital.
Episode 7 - ‘I Want To Know’
In court, Celeste pushes Mary Louise on the death of Perry’s brother, before forcing her mother-in-law to confront the truth about her abusive son as the judge makes a decision on the custody of the twin boys.
As Ed and Madeline make positive steps to repair their marriage, Jane decides to take new steps for her own happy ending.
Renata is left raging when Gordon continues to protect his things despite their quality of life getting destroyed.
Bonnie says goodbye to her mother, before making a heartbreaking confession to her husband and calling up the girls to tell them she has come to a decision.
In the final moments, the five women all put on a united front to face what comes next.
