The Clients

Morgan Henderson

Played by: Dominic West (The Wire, The Crown)

Morgan Henderson is ambitious, charismatic and accustomed to getting exactly what he wants. Raised in privilege and armed with a razor-sharp business mind, he moved from the world of hedge funds into technology, founding Zephyr, a fast-growing social media platform built around positivity.

Determined to protect the company he built, Morgan approaches his divorce from Carla as he would any business challenge: he intends to win.

While colleagues Gillian and Eric begin to question whether his personal life is affecting his leadership, Morgan finds support in longtime friend and lawyer St John Smallwood. Beneath the confident exterior, however, lies a softer side that emerges in his relationship with stepson Gabriel, the family bond he never expected to need.

Carla Duval

Played by: Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal, American Sniper)

A Hollywood star whose career has seen both highs and lows, Carla Duval has spent years navigating an industry that rarely makes life easy for women. Independent, strong-willed and fiercely resilient, she refuses to let others dictate her future.

Although outwardly confident, Carla carries emotional scars from years of feeling neglected in her marriage. Her decision to honeytrap Morgan wasn't driven by revenge but by heartbreak, frustration and a desperate search for the truth.

Carla shares a complicated relationship with her teenage son Gabriel, whose close bond with Morgan has created distance between mother and son. As the divorce grows increasingly hostile, Carla finds herself relying on the support of Serena Byrne and her legal team, though even those relationships come under strain as the case unfolds.

St John Smallwood

Played by: Pip Torrens (Succession, The Crown)

Sharp-tongued, highly intelligent and ruthlessly competitive, St John Smallwood is the lead lawyer representing Morgan Henderson.

A formidable presence in the legal world, St John thrives on winning and is never afraid to bend the rules if it helps secure victory. His confidence often borders on arrogance, particularly when dealing with opponents he considers beneath him.

Although his friendship with Morgan goes back years, the pressures of the case begin to test their relationship. As victory slips further from certainty, St John is forced to confront whether his obsession with winning has come at too great a cost.

Beatrice “Her Majesty” Ubosi

Played by: Nina Sosanya (Screw, Baby Reindeer)

Partner at Cathcarts & Sons, Beatrice Ubosi commands respect wherever she goes.

Known affectionately as "Her Majesty", she is intelligent, strategic and impossible to outmanoeuvre. Beatrice works closely alongside St John throughout the case, offering tactical insight and hard-earned wisdom whenever it's needed.

Once Serena Byrne's mentor, Beatrice still shares a complicated bond with her former protégé. While there is mutual respect between them, old wounds and professional rivalries linger beneath the surface.

David Schill

Played by Miles Jupp (Belgravia: The Next Chapter, Napoleon)

Senior Associate David Schill has his sights firmly set on partnership.

Ambitious and opportunistic, he sees the Henderson v Duval case as the perfect chance to prove his worth. But as he becomes involved in increasingly questionable tactics behind the scenes, David finds himself balancing career ambition against the risk of professional ruin.

Whether addressing a courtroom or advising her legal team, Prudence commands attention with effortless authority. Rarely flustered and always prepared, she possesses the rare ability to diffuse tension with perfectly timed humour.

For Prudence, every case is a challenge to be met professionally. Win or lose, she remains focused on the law.

Suzie Levitnik

Played by: Kartanya Maynard (Deadloch, Heartbreak High)

A Senior Associate with a dry wit and sharp instincts, Suzie Levitnik provides a grounded perspective amid the chaos of the case.

She embraces the thrill of legal combat but remains one of the more level-headed members of the team. When developments threaten to place her own future at risk, Suzie finds herself facing difficult decisions with serious consequences.

The New Kids on the Block: Who’s Who at Taylor & Byrne

Serena Byrne

Played by: Phoebe Fox

Driven, passionate and fiercely determined, Serena Byrne built Taylor & Byrne to reflect the values she felt were missing from her former firm.

Once seen as a future partner at Cathcarts & Sons, Serena left after being denied promotion, a setback she believes was influenced by the legal establishment's entrenched power structures.

Serena's greatest strength is her empathy. She forms deep connections with her clients and fights tirelessly for them, though that same commitment can sometimes cloud her judgement. As the case grows more demanding, Serena must balance professional ambition with the realities of marriage, motherhood and mounting pressure.

Nicholas Taylor

Played by: James McArdle (Playing Nice, Mare of Easttown)

As Serena's husband and business partner, Nicholas Taylor provides calm where Serena brings fire.

Pragmatic, thoughtful and quietly ambitious, he helps steady the firm's direction while supporting Serena's bold instincts. Their partnership is built on trust, affection and the confidence that comes from knowing one another completely.

However, financial pressures and old rivalries begin to expose cracks in Nicholas's confidence. As challenges mount both professionally and personally, he must decide what kind of lawyer, partner and husband he wants to be.

As the case intensifies, Nicholas must reconcile his professional identity with his role within his marriage. His journey is one of proving himself – not just to others and to Serena but also to himself – while navigating the high stakes of their firm, relationship and life together.

Johnny Warren

Played by: Archie Renaux (Alien: Romulus, Upgraded)

Charming, ambitious and eager to prove himself, Johnny Warren arrives with all the qualities needed to succeed in the legal profession.

Yet a mistake from his previous role in New York continues to cast a shadow over his career. Determined to rebuild his reputation, Johnny throws himself into the biggest case of his life.

As opportunities for advancement begin to emerge, Johnny finds himself torn between ambition and conscience. The higher the stakes climb, the harder it becomes to ignore where his loyalties truly lie.

Molly Giordano

Played by: Emma Laird (Mayor of Kingstown, The Crowded Room)

Outspoken, determined and never afraid to challenge authority, Molly Giordano is one of Taylor & Byrne's trainee associates.

Competing with her best friend Saeed to impress the firm's senior lawyers, Molly is eager to secure a place on the biggest case of the year. Intelligent and intuitive, she refuses to stop digging until she uncovers the truth.

Saeed Masood

Played by: Shaheen Jafargholi (The Agency, Lost Boys & Fairies)

Friendly, ambitious and highly capable, Saeed Masood is determined to prove himself.

Although frustrated by the more administrative aspects of legal life, he throws himself into every opportunity that comes his way. When he uncovers information that could dramatically affect the case, Saeed believes his future is finally secured.

But in a world where confidence can quickly become complacency, success is never guaranteed.

Joy “Budgie” Budge

Played by: Celia Imrie (Calendar Girls, The Thursday Murder Club)

An experienced freelance barrister with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the law, Budgie is one of the most respected figures on the Taylor & Byrne team.

Intelligent, charismatic and quietly mischievous, she understands exactly how to work within the rules while giving her clients every possible advantage. Whether in court or behind the scenes, Budgie brings wisdom, strategy and a touch of humour to even the most difficult situations.

Michael Stefanou

Played by: Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso, Renegade Nell)

Michael Stefanou is one of Taylor & Byrne's most dependable Senior Associates.

Hard-working, perceptive and eager to contribute, he has been with the firm since its earliest days and remains one of Serena and Nicholas's most trusted advisers. While his occasionally awkward social skills can rub colleagues the wrong way, his legal expertise is never in doubt.

Nora Okafor

Played by: Akiya Henry (Malice, Protection) as Nora Okafor

Quick-thinking, resourceful and highly skilled, Nora Okafor is a key member of the Taylor & Byrne team.

Her expertise, good humour and ability to remain calm under pressure make her invaluable throughout the Henderson v Duval case. Frequently trusted to attend key meetings and shape legal strategy, Nora consistently proves herself one of the firm's strongest assets.
