`The Royle Family' follows the everyday life of the average working-class Royles in Manchester. Jim is the patriarch, a rather lofty title for someone who watches a lot of television, and does as little else as he can. That makes his hard-working wife, Barbara, the main breadwinner, and the only one who seemingly sticks up for their picked-upon youngest son Antony. Often seen relaxing with Jim on the family sofa is daughter Denise and her husband, David, as is Barbara's morbid, storytelling mother Norma (known as Nana).

With Dave and Denise's wedding just six weeks away, the phone bill is the last thing skinflint Jim needs. And who's been phoning Aberdeen!? 'It's good to talk, my...'.

Who left the immersion on? Jim moans about money again in the much-loved sitcom. He finds it hard to come to terms with the fact that he's got to pay for Denise's wedding.

Comedy with the square-eyed Royles. Guess what? They're sitting round the telly. It's Sunday afternoon, which means that Nana is around for the day. Lucky Jim!

Dad's Birthday: Episode Image
Episode 4Dad's Birthday

More fun with the lazy but loveable Royles. It's Jim's birthday and the rest of the family won't let him ignore it. Will the banjo come out, d'you think? Ricky Tomlinson plays!

Another Woman?: Episode Image
Episode 5Another Woman?

Northern comedy. Take cover, our Denise is hopping mad with Dave, and guess what? It's all about the infamous Beverley Macca. What does she look like?

Wedding Day: Episode Image

Comedy gold. No TV for the Royles this morning, but it's on of course. It's the morning of the wedding, and Denise is not the only one whose nerves are bad. Where's Jim?
