Embarking on canal journeys together, traversing the canals of the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world by canal barge and narrowboat. Their trips take them along many scenic waterways, including ancient routes followed by the Vikings in Sweden, the windmills along the canals near Amsterdam, and the route once taken by Casanova in Venice. Along the way they interact with interesting characters, taste regional dishes, and explore the sights around the canals. Sheila Hancock and Gyles Brandreth host the thirteenth season.

Episode 1Egypt

Tim and Pru explore one of the world's great waterways - the River Nile - while travelling from Luxor to Aswan, visiting a Nubian village, and dancing by moonlight.

Episode 2Italy

Timothy West and Prunella Scales explore the Naviglio Grande Canal in Italy, stopping along the way at the Swiss lakeside town of Locarno and the gardens of Isola Bella.

Episode 3Manchester

Tim and Pru embark on a voyage through canal history as they explore the waterways of northwest England and heading from Manchester to Ellesmere Port.

Episode 4Argentina

Tim and Pru take a boat ride in the Argentine jungle with gin and tonic with some remote Anglo-Argentines, hummingbirds, honey and a spot of tango.

Episode 5Lancaster Canal

Tim and Pru navigate the Lancaster Canal, an early masterpiece of the waterways, as they travel along the coast of Morecambe Bay and visit Carnforth and Lune Aqueduct.

Episode 6Rideau Canal, Canada

Tim and Pru embark on an epic journey along Canada's Rideau Canal - a World Heritage Site - from the backwoods of Ontario to the nation's capital of Ottawa.
