Morfa Halen, a quaint and postcard-perfect village in the heart of Wales, is changed forever when teacher Jackie Ellis discovers the body of Cefin, one of her nine-year-old students.
As a devastating storm brews, tensions mount as the tragedy triggers the memory of the death of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, three years prior. The loss of Nessa turned her family upside down, with Jackie turning her back on a career as a detective for a new path.
But as Jackie’s former work partner, Detective Eric Bull, returns to Morfa Halen to investigate Cefin’s death, she’s quickly pulled back into her old world as it becomes increasingly likely Cefin and Nessa’s deaths could be connected.
Determined to get to the truth, Jackie has to reconcile her relationship with Bull, discover what was missed in their initial investigation, and unearth buried truths in this seemingly idyllic community, before the storm washes away any evidence – and chance of justice.

Under Salt Marsh runs for six, 45-minute episodes, and starts with us meeting Jackie Ellis – whose discovery is set to rock a small Welsh town to its core.
Episode One
When schoolteacher and former detective Jackie Ellis stumbles on a shocking tragedy, Morfa Halen’s fragile calm shatters. Still haunted by her own unresolved loss, Jackie suspects a connection. DS Eric Bull is sent to the town to investigate, but his presence reignites old wounds. As evidence begins to wash away, the pair are forced to face the town’s secrets and the ghosts of their shared past.

Episode Two
Jackie can’t let go of the past or her suspicions. She launches her own maverick investigation which collides with Bull’s official one, drawing both toward a reclusive beekeeper. As grief and anger explode during a vigil for Cefin, old accusations resurface. Jackie and Bull must put aside years of mistrust before the town’s simmering tensions ignite into violence.

Episode Three
When an illicit operation is uncovered, unrest spreads through the town. Jackie and Bull, forced into an uneasy alliance, share information whilst following separate leads. Jackie uncovers a lie at the heart of the investigation which tore her life apart three years ago, while Bull is forced to wrestle with his intimacy issues. Their fragile partnership is tested when Bull makes a horrifying new discovery.

Episode Four
Jackie struggles as her estranged sister returns, reigniting years of guilt and betrayal. Bull finds himself faced with two cases which are undeniably linked. A confession is made but he suspects it’s been designed to protect someone closer to home. As the storm closes in, DNA evidence exposes a devastating truth and both Jackie and Bull must choose between protecting themselves or those they love.

Episode Five
Rising floods cut Morfa Halen off from the world as another body is discovered. With the townspeople evacuating and the killer still at large, Bull closes in on the truth behind an illegal operation at the heart of all three cases. Jackie, acting alone, confronts a suspect with explosive consequences. As loyalties crumble and secrets surface, a disappearance shocks the town.
