Episode Recap
The Overlap on Tour season one is comprised of four episodes, and sees the guys head off on a live tour of the UK and Ireland.
While at each stop on their trip, the trio use their downtime to make the most of the local area, going off on adventures, taking in local landmarks and going on a trip down memory lane before heading onto the stage.
Episode 1: Dublin
For the first stop in Ireland, the trio head to Roy Keane’s native city of Cork and to see Blarney Castle and kiss the iconic Blarney Stone – only to find a Liverpool flag hanging from the castle walls.
Before their live show in Dublin, Keane gives the guys a tour of the gorgeous Irish countryside, stopping at his hometown in Mayfield, the first local team he played for in Rockmount, and Cobh Ramblers.
Finally, they had to Croke Park Stadium, where they try their hand at hurling.
Reflecting on key moments of his career, Keane discusses his infamous run-ins with referees and other players, his time under managers including Nottingham Forest’s Brian Clough and Sir Alex Ferguson.
On stage, they’re joined by Irish football legend, Paul McGrath, who discusses representing his country, before a performance by The Academic.
Episode 2: London
Before their next show at Wembley Arena, Keane, Neville and Carragher pay tribute to the legendary pitch.
Neville reflects on Euro ‘96, a notorious incident that saw a plane smashed up, working with Gazza and Beckham, and how his dad became front page news after a boozy night out.
While in the capital, the trio see iconic landmarks in the back of a black cab, train to become assistant referees for a Sunday League match, before joining Stuart Pearce at a pie and mash shop – where they get to grips with delicacy jellied eels, to mixed results.
They also visit The National Gallery for a cultured look at some of the world’s greatest art paintings – including Van Gogh’s Sunflowers – with one of them discovering they’re also a work of art.
On stage, the trio are joined by Pearce and Patrice Evra, before giving their own self-portraits a go, before being played out by Dexys.
Episode 3: Liverpool
This time, the gang are doing a live show at the M&S Arena – but first Carragher and Neville are heading for a trip on a ferry across the Mersey with John Barnes to see some of the sights, and compare musical greats between Liverpool and Manchester.
Then, it’s off to Liverpool’s legendary Anfield, where they get the chance to abseil down the side of the stadium before pulling pranks on guests during a grounds tour.
Heading to the iconic Cavern Club – famed starting point for The Beatles – they’re joined by Tony Bellew, and drop by a Jamie Webster gig, where Carragher shows off his pipes.
On stage, they’re reunited with Keane, while Neville finds himself panto villain of the night. Carragher is given a trip down memory lane with some choice photoshoots, and Sir Kenny Dalglish joins them.
Episode 4: Manchester
Winding up the tour in Manchester, Gary takes Jamie and Roy to Bury to show them where he grew up – including his childhood home.
They later try a new sport in croquet, where they’re surprised by an old friend, before the trio try and tick something off Keane’s bucket list – a skydive.
On stage, Carragher can’t help winding up the Manchester audience, and they’re joined by Graeme Souness and Dimitar Berbatov, who spill secrets from his time in the changing room
