What is The Mandalorian about?

The Mandalorian follows the story of Din Djarin, a lone-wolf bounty hunter and the titular Mandalorian who works in the far reaches of the galaxy, making ends meet by taking on dangerous jobs as the New Republic takes shape.

Set five years after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi which saw the Galactic Empire fall, Djarin is hired by Imperial remnant forces to collect a child named Grogu and bring him to them. However, when he grows attached to The Child, he instead goes on the run and vows to protect him.

As the pair travel the galaxy together, they meet friends and foes as Djarin tries to reunite Grogu with his people. However, trouble is not far behind, with former Imperial commander Moff Gideon quickly on their tail.

First launching in November 2019, the series has now run for three seasons, spawning spin-offs of characters the pair met along the way.

It has also won 62 awards, including 15 Primetime Emmys and an Actor Award (formerly known as the SAG Awards).

The Mandalorian currently has a 90% overall rating on critics' website Rotten Tomatoes, becoming the second most acclaimed Star Wars TV series behind Andor.
