The Idol – Episode Recap

The Idol is a limited series that ran for five, hour-long episodes.

Episode 1 - ‘Pop Tarts and Rat Tales’

After recovering from a nervous breakdown following the death of her mother, former child star-turned-pop-singer Jocelyn is ready to make a comeback.

With new music ready to be released, her team assembles at her house to shoot the cover art and practice choreography for her music video.

But ahead of a high-profile interview with Vanity Fair, her management are left quickly scrambling after an X-rated photo of Jocelyn is leaked onto the internet.

As the hectic day comes to a close, Jocelyn heads to a club with best friends Leia and Xander, where she meets the enticing Tedros. Later inviting him to her house, she shows him her new song – and he comes up with an idea to add some spice to the track.

Episode 2 - ‘Double Fantasy’

Jocelyn surprises her team by showing them her new version of the single, World Class Singer, leaving them worried she’s not fully ready to return to the spotlight but wanting to push ahead because of how much they’ve invested already.

At the music video shoot, Jocelyn continues to unravel, becoming frustrated when things aren’t perfect to the point of badly blistering her feet and even calling out for her dead mum.

As Tedros works his way further into Jocelyn’s inner circle, bringing others with him, managers Chaim and Destiny decide to investigate this mysterious new figure, while Leia also grows concerned about his influence on her friend.

Episode 3 - ‘Daybreak’

Tedros and his collective of artists move into Jocelyn’s home as he continues to be more controlling on her life and career. Under his influence, Jocelyn announces her plans to scrap the album plans and start afresh, heading in a new direction, which alarms the record execs and her management team.

Later at dinner, Tedros pushes Jocelyn to expose her abusive past with her mother, later using it as a “motivational tool” via sexual games.

Episode 4 - ‘Stars Belong to the World’

Destiny discovers the truth behind Tedros’ criminal past, making her more concerned for his continuous control over Jocelyn. This is made worse when Chloe, a young performer in Tedros’ collective, reveals she may be younger than she’s said to be.

Xander bonds with Tedros and opens up about his past with Jocelyn, and what led him to becoming her creative director. Tedros then uses this information to make an example of Xander – with the help of a shock collar.

Jocelyn learns the truth about how she was brought into the group, and in retaliation invited ex-boyfriend Rob over to make Tedros jealous. But Tedros retaliates, and recruits Xander to get something incriminating to use against him.

Episode 5 - ‘Jocelyn Forever’

With Jocelyn becoming disillusioned with Tedros and his behaviour, she decides to cut him out, declaring him a con man and fraud. But Tedros refuses to leave the house, and when the record label arrives to see her, he makes himself known, prompting Jocelyn to get Chaim to find a way to get him to leave.

Leia discovers what Xander did for Tedros, as Rob’s career is now left under massive public scrutiny.

Speeding forward several weeks, Jocelyn is preparing for a massive show in Los Angeles, while Tedros is now publicly ruined. Despite this, he still attends her show with a backstage pass, leading Jocelyn to make a shocking declaration on stage.
