The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In this brand new Sky Original series, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will take Stieg Larsson’s series of global bestsellers and give them a contemporary twist.

Grounded in the characters and investigative DNA of Larsson’s Millennium novel series, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo brings the story into the present day, with themes that carry heightened relevance today.

In the original story, investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist’s career is in ruins when he is hired by a wealthy industrialist Henrik Vanger to write their family history – and solve the 40-year-old mystery of his missing niece Harriet in the process. She vanished from the family island and is believed to have been murdered.

Mikael recruits the enigmatic hacker Lisbeth Salander to work on the case, and the pair uncover the sinister secrets lying in the Vanger family’s past.

The series will run for eight episodes.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is currently in the pre-production phase. Production will commence in Spring 2026 in Lithuania.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is produced by Left Bank Pictures. Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher, Behind Her Eyes, Spider-Noir) and Angela LaManna (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Behind Her Eyes) will write and executive produce the series.

Executive producers also include Andy Harries, Charlotte Moore and John Phillips for Left Bank Pictures and Sam Hoyle for Sky.

Currently, there have been no official cast announcements for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is the first in the Millenium book series, created by Swedish author, Stieg Larsson.

Larsson died in 2004 after completing only three of the 10 books he intended to write in the series. David Lagercrantz took over the story to pen the next three, with Karin Smirnoff then picking up the Millenium series and writing a further two to date.
