The Death of Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes – The Lost Years. Coming soon to Sky and NOW.

What is The Death of Sherlock Holmes about?

The Death of Sherlock Holmes is set to solve one of the biggest mysteries within the world of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective… What happened to him after he disappeared?

In 1891, Sherlock Holmes was presumed dead when he, alongside arch-villain Professor Moriarty, fell off the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland as they went head-to-head in a duel.

But in 1894, Sherlock made his grand return to society, and author Doyle has never shared what he got up to during the three years he was missing.

Now longtime fans of Sherlock Holmes stories will finally have that part of his history told in this dark new series.

Set within the beautiful but merciless Swiss Alps, a young local woman named Alma and her son Franz become central to the mystery when they find an Englishman clinging on to life in the chill of a mountain stream.

As they take care of him, Franz finds himself in trouble with the local villagers when he’s accused of murdering the village doctor.

While the Englishman is suffering from his amnesia, he shows preternatural skills of deduction – just when his saviours’ need it the most.

As fragments of his past plague his mind, he’s forced to confront who he was, and who he wants to be as a vast conspiracy draws him closer to his past, and his true name.

Created by Claudia Bluemhuber, André Küttel and Pierre Monnard, and written by Küttel and Simone Schmid, The Death of Sherlock Holmes opens a long-lost chapter in the tale of the most beloved detective in the world.

The Death of Sherlock Holmes is part of Sky’s ongoing partnership with Sphere Abacus, whose other productions include upcoming thriller title YAGA, as well as the much-anticipated second season of Heated Rivalry, both of which will also air on Sky in 2027.
