The 'Burbs

The ‘Burbs

The ‘BurbsWelcome to the neighbourhood. Coming April 1st to Sky and NOW.

What is The ‘Burbs about?

Samira and Rob Fisher are a young, happily married couple who, after having their first child, reluctantly decide to leave behind the Big City in order to live in a quiet suburban neighbourhood.

Moving into Rob’s childhood home in Hinkley Hills, it could be seen as a fresh start. Except there’s a creepy house just across the street that Samira can’t help but be freaked out by – especially when she discovers a girl who lived there 20 years ago went missing.

When strange new neighbour Gary moves in to the house, paranoia quickly comes with him – and soon she teams up with other members of the neighbourhood to solve the mystery of the town’s long-held disappearance once and for all.

Based on the 1989 comedy movie of the same name starring Tom Hanks, The ‘Burbs delivers a darkly comedic take on what goes on behind closed doors, delivering skewering political and social commentary in a town where nothing is as it seems.

The ‘Burbs launched in the US on Peacock in February 2026. Sky is now its exclusive home in the UK, with the series launching from April 1st.

Earning a respectable 82% score on critics aggregate site RottenTomatoes, Variety called The ‘Burbs in their review: “A fun and terrifying series highlighting secrets, how little we really know our neighbours, and the horrors of suburbia.”

The TV adaptation is created and written by Celeste Hughey (Dead to Me, Palm Royale).

The ‘Burbs forms part of a bold line-up of Sky Originals and Exclusives coming to Sky and NOW screens in 2026 and beyond. From gripping dramas and films to big entertainment and compelling documentaries, Sky continues to champion distinctive storytelling alongside world-class talent - delivering the must-watch moments set to define the year ahead.
