Where's your sense of humour, Brenty? David Brent fails to appreciate a joke picture of him that's been e-mailed around the office and assigns Gareth to find the culprit.

Can real office life ever be the same again? Brent and Finchy take on Tim and Ricky at the annual quiz night. But things get ugly and poor Tim ends up losing his shoe.

This will strike a few chords with many as a management consultant turns a potentially productive day into a total waste of time. Meanwhile, Tim is indulging in some soul-searching.

Despite redundancies, Brent hires a new secretary. Later, it's beers all round as the team go to Chasers, Slough's premier nightclub and the cringeometer goes up... and up...

As Slough merges, the bad news is there will be redundancies, but the good news is that Brent himself will be staying, rewarded for all his hard work. Won't his staff be pleased?
