What is McMafia about?

McMafia is a high-octane crime drama following a man torn between his honest life and his family’s shady background.

Based on the non-fiction book, McMafia: Seriously Organised Crime by Misha Glenny, the series follows the globe-spanning story of Alex Godman, an investment fund manager in London.

Having made a legitimate career for himself away from the Russian crime family he was born into, Alex is happy with his girlfriend, Rebecca, and plans to settle down and live a quiet life.

However, after drug lord Mr Vadim is killed in Mumbai, a chain of events is triggered as Alex is pulled back into his father’s attachments to the Russian criminal underworld in order to protect those he loves. Soon, he’s falling down the hole of money laundering and corruption that organised crime is based in.

Spanning across the world, McMafia tracks the story across London, Mumbai, Prague, Tel Aviv, Cairo and Paris.

Created by director James Watkins (Eden Lake, The Woman in Black) and writer Hossein Amini (Drive, Our Kind of Traitor), McMafia was initially released in 2018 and
