
The writers:
DC Moore
Mary and George’s writer and executive producer DC Moore is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. His second play The Empire was nominated for an Olivier Award. He was also nominated for the Evening Standard Award's Most Promising Playwright for the play.
As well as writing for the stage, Moore has contributed to several TV series, having written episodes for Killing Eve, Coming Up, the Sky Original drama Temple, and creating the mini-series Not Safe For Work for Channel 4, which won the Writer's Guild award for Best Long Form Drama and won him a Scottish BAFTA for Best Writer.
Oliver Hermanus
Writer and director Oliver Hermanus made his debut in his native South Africa in 2009 with the award-winning Shirley Adams. He followed up this early success with three further feature films – Beauty, The Endless River, and Moffie – before finally directing the Academy Award-nominated British drama Living in 2022, starring Bill Nighy and with a screenplay adapted by Kazuo Ishiguro. Mary and George will mark Hermanus’ first foray into directing a television series.

Alex Winckler
Alex has directed TV dramas including My Mad Fat Diary and Crims before receiving universal plaudits as the director of This Way Up, written by and starring Aisling Bea, and the brilliant Channel 4 drama Somewhere Boy. Winckler will now be directing episodes of Mary & George, marking his first period project.
Florian Cossen
German director Florian Cossen made his mark in his home nation directing his award-winning debut film Das Lied In Mir. He followed this with the film Coconut Hero and directing episodes of NSU: German History X, and the international hit series Deutschland 86. In 2022 he reached his largest audience to date by directing Netflix’s The Empress, which was recently confirmed for a second season. Mary & George represents another landmark for Cossen's career as it will be the first English-language production he will direct.
The executive producers:
Liza Marshall
Director of Hera Pictures, Liza Marshall will executive produce Mary & George, having previously produced the Sky Original series Riviera and Temple. She was previously Head of Drama at Channel 4, where she produced Boy A, Misfits and Top Boy. She then went on to establish and run Scott Free London for Ridley Scott. Prior to this, she was a producer at the BBC.
Oliver Hermanus
As well as acting as lead director, Oliver Hermanus will executive produce Mary & George.
DC Moore
Mary & George’s writer, DC Moore, will also act as executive producer for the series.
Julianne Moore
As well as starring as one half of the titular characters, Julianne Moore serves as executive producer for the series.
Sam Hoyle
Sam Hoyle will act as executive producer for Sky Studios.
