Julia is the comedy-drama TV series inspired by the famous 1960s American chef, author and television personality Julia Child’s life. The series, which stars Sarah Lancashire, tells the story of Julia Child’s life and how she became one of the world’s most famous TV chefs despite being faced by a number of personal and professional challenges.

The official synopsis for Julia Season 2 reads:

“With her trailblazing cooking show up and running on the air, Julia grapples with her rising celebrity and what that means for her, her colleagues and her show. In season two, Julia and her devoted husband Paul return from Simca’s home in France to find that her success has changed everything. Through her singular joie de vivre, she and her team must navigate WGBH, the White House and a threat from their past, while continuing to spearhead female-driven public television and confront social issues still prevalent today.” With a third season ruled out, the good news is that you can still watch the first two on Sky Atlantic.

Who was Julia Child?

Julia Child was an American chef, television personality and author who is credited with revolutionising American cuisine through her French cooking school, cookbooks and TV shows. Her debut cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking and subsequent TV shows, the most notable being The French Chef which ran for 10 years from 1963 to 1973, are credited with playing a huge part in the American audience trying to cook French food at home. Her cooking career lasted over 40 years and made her a household name.
