
Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels are back and still as acid-tongued as ever as the warring duo hit the road in a bid to revive the stand-up star’s fledgling career.
With her regular gig at the Palmetto Casino finished, comedian Deborah feels unshackled and ready to take the world by storm – but soon finds not everyone is loving her new material, making her realise she needs to shake things up a bit.
Meanwhile, Ava has a ticking timebomb to deal with after sending a regretful email while drunk, and she is also dealing with a personal loss away from her job.
Can these two keep themselves together to make the comeback of all comebacks?

Season 2 Episodes Recap
Hacks season two is eight episodes long, picking up immediately after the events of the season one finale and Ava’s potentially devastating angry email.
Episode 1 - ‘There Will Be Blood’
Ava is struggling with guilt after sending a drunken email to the British writers slating her experience of working with Deborah as the pair head back to Las Vegas.
Ava’s agent, Jimmy begs her to come clean as he starts working his magic in order to get rid of the problem, but soon he finds himself having his own issues with Barbara, the hotel’s HR manager who doesn’t take too kindly to Kayla’s behaviour during Deborah’s last show.
As the ladies land back in Vegas, they return to the Palmetto to support DJ’s new husband, Aidan, at his MMA fight, but a run-in with hotel manager Marty (her old boss / old flame) and his date prompts Deborah to make a hasty decision.
Episode 2 - ‘Quid Pro Quo’
As Ava and Deborah hit the road, a trip to a psychic in Arizona comes with an ominous message that forces truths to come to light.
Jimmy continues his mission to get rid of Ava’s nasty email, but a meeting with agent Janet Stone just causes more problems. With time running out, Jimmy turns to Kayla’s father to pull some strings, but he wants a favour in return.
After their trip, Ava gets served.
Episode 3 - ‘Trust the Process’
Deborah and Ava are frosty once again, which doesn’t help when they officially head off on their tour with an eccentric tour manager called Weed. But when Weed makes a devastating move, the pair’s undeniable bond becomes apparent.
Marcus finds himself grappling with missing his ex and finds a new pal.
Episode 4 - ‘The Captain’s Wife’
Deborah lands a gig on a gay cruise but runs into trouble with an all-female audience that don’t quite get her material, before receiving a surprise call from Marty.
Ava is hesitant to join the cruise, given her fear of water, but soon proves popular among the lesbian crowd. But with her connection to Deborah, how long will this happiness last?
Marcus continues to struggle with being single, which doesn’t help when he runs into his ex, Wilson, on a night out, prompting him to make a string of regretful mistakes.

Episode 5 - ‘Retired’
Marcus joins the rest of the gang on tour as they head to a county fair.
A quick stop at a local mall leaves Deborah in a crisis when she discovers her signature perfume is being discontinued. She runs into an old comedy pal, whose life has taken a surprising turn and prompts Deborah to confront some past misgivings.
Meanwhile, Ava and Marcus grapple with the fact that their lives now circle around Deborah.
Episode 6 - ‘The Click’
After a disastrous show, the gang head to Memphis, Tennessee, where Ava gets a surprise visit from her mother, Nina, which isn’t quite the joyful reunion it should be.
Deborah flies Kiki out to join them, hoping she can help them get back on a winning streak, but she ends up getting lucky in a different way – sparking a new creative direction with her stand-up material.
Episode 7 - ‘On the Market’
The gang arrive back in Los Angeles in a bid to persuade Kayla’s father to fund Deborah’s new stand-up special – but the answer results in both Jimmy and Kayla making a radical move as they realise where their loyalties lie.
Ava meets the woman who has been subletting her apartment while she’s been away and makes an unexpected connection.
Deborah makes her own rash decisions to take a step forward in her career.
Episode 8 - ‘The One, The Only’
In the season finale, Deborah heads to an auction, where she has an awkward run-in with Marty, who offers up the Palmetto to record her special. However, the taping is derailed by a medical emergency.
Ava is offered a tempting new job. Jimmy starts a business turf war with Janet – who has her sights set on some of his clients.
Deborah makes a selfless decision for Ava and Jimmy’s future, as the future looks bright for all of them.
