What is Flavia about?
In this brand new Sky Original family adventure, it’s time to get out your magnifying glass and dust off your sleuthing skills.
Based on Alan Bradley's bestselling Flavia de Luce book series, Flavia follows the titular sprightly 11-year-old as she finds herself drawn to a murder mystery that starts in her own garden.
Set in 1951, Flavia lives with her family in the British countryside in a crumbling manor house. The de Luces have been proudly living there for over 500 years. But when young Flavia discovers a dead body in their cucumber patch, she turns detective to find the culprit.
With a natural skill for chemistry, armed with knowledge of poisons and taking after her mother – long-missing spy, Harriet – Flavia decides to launch her own investigation.
When her introverted father Havilland admits to the crime – even though she knows he didn’t do it – the heat is on to get to the bottom of the mystery so she can clear his name.
Going up against the local police force as well as the murderer, her adventure slowly reveals long-held family secrets that turn her home upside down.
Director Bharat Nalluri said of the new film: “I have long been a fan of Alan Bradley's bestselling Flavia de Luce mysteries, so bringing his vivid world and characters to life on screen was a genuine joy. I’m delighted to share this first Flavia mystery on Sky and hope audiences of all ages enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
