Blood on Snow

No good deed goes unpunished in Oslo’s criminal underworld. Coming soon to UK Cinemas, Sky Cinema and NOW.

What is Blood on Snow about?

Based on the bestselling novel by author Jo Nesbø, Blood on Snow is a star-studded crime thriller where loyalties are put to the ultimate life-or-death test.

Cold and calculated hitman Olav is the hired assassin for Hoffman – one of Oslo’s most ruthless crime bosses. Efficient and great at his job, Olav is ruled by an inner personal moral code shaped by his complicated youth.

But this moral code is put to the test when Hoffman hires him to murder his wife. Doubting his ability to go through with the “fix”, he instead decides to spare her – but by doing so he becomes Hoffman’s next deadly target.

Soon, he becomes embroiled in a cat-and-mouse race through Oslo’s criminal underworld and into a deadly gang war, where no one can be trusted even as he’s forced to make uneasy alliances.

Blood on Snow comes to Sky following the success of another Nesbø adaptation, 2022’s The Hanging Sun. Nesbø returns to the story as the scriptwriter with Cary Joji Fukunaga (James Bond: No Time to Die, True Detective) at the helm as director. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis provide the musical score to bring this breath-taking thriller to screen.

Sky’s Head of Original Film Andrew Orr said of the film: “We’re delighted to be working with an exciting filmmaker of Cary Joji Fukunaga’s calibre, as we continue to build a fresh and diverse offering of Original films. Nesbø’s writing is exceptional, and the strength of the cast’s performances make this a standout addition to our slate.”

Blood on Snow forms part of a bold line-up of Sky Originals and Exclusives coming to Sky and NOW screens in 2026 and beyond. From gripping dramas and films to big entertainment and compelling documentaries, Sky continues to champion distinctive storytelling alongside world-class talent - delivering the must-watch moments set to define the year ahead.
