What is Avatar: The Last Airbender about?

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a fantasy action series, and a live-action remake of the much loved animated series of the same name.

Set in a war-torn world, where those with special powers can control (or “bend”) the four major elements of water, fire, earth and air, young Aang – the last of his eradicated nation, the Air Nomads – proves himself to be the Avatar.

The last living Airbender in the world, 12-year-old Aang’s capabilities as Avatar provides a bridge between the mortal world and that of spirits and gives him the capability of manipulating all four elements to his whim.

Tasked with maintaining balance and peace within his world, Avatar: The Last Airbender sees Aang face the Fire Nation as they attempt to conquer the world. But first he needs to learn how to conquer and control the elements, as while he has the ability, he’s yet to hone his powers.

With the help of friends Katara and Sokka, Aang goes off on his mission – but is soon pursued by Zuko, the former prince of the Fire Nation who was exiled from his people, hoping to regain their favour by capturing him.
