The Long Call

Ben Aldridge stars as DI Matthew Venn, a detective returning to his native North Devon in a personal journey that forces old wounds to reopen. Now married to husband Jonathan, played by Declan Bennett, Matthew is only too aware of how his identity marks him out for the strict religious local community, known as the Barum Brethren, in which he was raised. When a body is found on the beach not far from his new home, Matthew finds himself investigating the Brethren at closer quarters than he would have liked. He works alongside DC Jen Rafferty, who arrived in Devon with her own demons to face, and the pair set about uncovering some of the secrets that lie buried.
