Curmudgeonly Victor Meldrew, forced to take early retirement from his job as a security guard, rails at the trials and tribulations of modern life as he tries to keep himself busy. His long-suffering wife, Margaret, is frequently exasperated by his misfortunes. Neighbours Patrick and Pippa Trench and family friend Jean Warboys are common witnesses to Victor's antics.

The first ever episode with the original grumpy old man, Victor Meldrew. Replaced at work by a box, Victor embarks on his enforced retirement with some difficulty.

A classic episode of the surreal sitcom with poor old Mr Meldrew again frustrated by circumstance. Victor's new interest in art gives his wife cause for worry.

Episode 6The Return of the Speckled Band

Richard Wilson is the disaster-prone Mr Meldrew in this classic sitcom. The Meldrews' plans for a Greek holiday are distracted by a string of events.
