Incisive, street-smart detective Piet Van der Valk investigates mysterious and high-profile crimes in Amsterdam, with his no-nonsense partner Lucienne Hassell at his right hand. In this modernised update of the 1970s series, filmed on location in the Dutch capital, each case takes Van der Valk into the hidden world behind its bustling streets and into such intricate realms as politics, mysticism, fashion and the art world. In the first episode, Van der Valk tries to find a connection between two seemingly unrelated murders in order to discover the complex conspiracy and human story at the centre of it all.
