Various members of the Short family navigate their lives. With their eldest son in college, Tim and Heather want another baby. Meanwhile, penniless Matt moves back home with dad John.

When Matt sees Joan and John in an intimate moment, Joan attempts to organise an impromptu family therapy session. Elsewhere, new mum Jen struggles to breast-feed.
