Everything you need to know about The Rehearsal
In The Rehearsal, comedian Nathan Fielder plays a fictional version of himself as he aims to prepare members of the public for big moments in their life.
This could be anything – from helping them confess to a lie they’ve made or preparing for the upcoming arrival of their child.
Acting as a bizarre life guru of sorts, Fielder takes on each challenge put forward by the members of the public and allows them to “rehearse” what will happen, so they are better prepared for their scenario.
Gathering intel on their lives before hiring sets and actors, Fielder trains them for any given way the situation turns out – often with hilarious and awkward consequences.
The Rehearsal is therefore half-real, half-fake, with viewers being left in the dark into how much has been made-up, and how much is actual response.
Launching in 2022, the series was critically acclaimed for its wild premise, with a second season later commissioned and released in 2025.
Who stars in The Rehearsal?
Creator Nathan Fielder is the lead star of the series, with each episode focusing on him helping a different person.
Fielder is a Canadian comedian, actor, director and producer, who has become famed for his shows which blend his awkward, fictional characters into real life scenarios.
He rose to prominence thanks to his show Nathan For You, which launched on Comedy Central in 2013. Similar to The Rehearsal, in Nathan For You we follow a fictional version of Nathan as a business graduate who tries to help promote struggling businesses with extravagant proposals and PR ideas, which often end up going awry.
Due to the realistic scenarios he creates, there are no other prominent cast members, however some actors are used in multiple episodes for different situations.
These include:
Newcomer Journey Baker
Anna Lamadrid (George & Mandy’s First Marriage, This Fool)
Thomas McNamara (The Sympathizer, 911 Lone Star)
Jennifer Khoe (Kung Fu, Superman and Lois)
Ashley Morgan (Grand Crew, Ruthless)
How many seasons of The Rehearsal are there?
The Rehearsal has currently run for two seasons in the US, with the first season available now on Sky Comedy.
Each season runs for six, half-hour long episodes.
At the time of writing (May 2025), a third season is yet to be confirmed.
What is the age rating of The Rehearsal?
The Rehearsal has been rated 15 for the entire series.
This means the series has been deemed unsuitable for children or anyone under the age of 15 and should be viewed with caution.
Reasons for this rating include:
Frequent use of swearing
Some intense scenes of peril or threat
How to watch The Rehearsal on Sky
Season one The Rehearsal is available in full now on Sky.
Season two is coming soon and is currently available on HBO Max in the US.
Episodes are also available to watch on streaming service NOW.
Will I still be able to watch The Rehearsal on Sky with HBO Max launching?
Yes!
If you’re already a Sky subscriber, you will get complete continuity of the service at no extra cost via the Max app. The new deal means Sky and NOW customers benefit from more content through bundled access to the streaming service that will exclusively feature new HBO Original and Max Original shows and more.
And in the case of The Rehearsal and a range of other series, as part of Sky’s new deal with HBO, customers will continue to find shows such as House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us, and any new series aired before the end of 2025, on Sky Atlantic and through Sky’s On Demand service.
Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios and chief content officer of Sky, said: “What’s really good about the deal that we struck is that if you’re a Sky subscriber, at no additional cost, you will have access to the Max app within your Sky platform. So if you’re already a Sky subscriber, you have complete continuity of service. Actually, you probably have more because Max will have more content than what we have today with the HBO shows and the Warner Bros. films.
“It’s going to be completely seamless for those customers, so you’ll have a really rich experience, and that’s at no additional cost.
“Any show that we’ve had historically on our channels you’ll continue to get on the channels, including future seasons of The Last of Us and The White Lotus.”
And what about NOW TV?
In addition, NOW UK and Ireland Entertainment members will also receive bundled access to the ad-supported version of Max, seamlessly integrated into the NOW experience alongside other premium content. They will also continue to get the existing series which were available on Sky as part of their subscription.
