Hosted by legendary journalist Michael Buerk, this series explores royal cuisine from the past to the present day. Each episode sees the presenter joined in the kitchen by a top chef as they attempt to recreate dishes from the Royal Archives, as well as cooking up some contemporary plates inspired by the monarchs. Buerk celebrates the theme of food in records from the time of George IV to the reign of Elizabeth II, finding great historical detail in the recollections of Mildred Nicholls, a kitchen maid who served Buckingham Palace from 1907 to 1919.
