With season eight, Game of Thrones reaches its dramatic conclusion – but in a game where you live, or you die – who exactly survives?
And now Game of Thrones’ watch has ended – but it made sure it go out with one hell of a bloody bang, with no one safe from death before the final credits rolled.
Cersei is hanging on to power as Queen by her fingernails, Daenerys and Jon are now a united unit, most of the surviving Starks have reunited in Winterfell, and Euron Greyjoy has become a last-minute player in the fight for the Iron Throne after taking over the Iron Islands.
But a long held Stark family secret – that ‘bastard’ Jon Snow is actually the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne after being born to Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen – is hanging in the air, with no telling what can happen when everyone finds out.
Throw in the fact White Walkers have blasted their way through the Wall with an ice dragon on their side, and there are still many battles to be won before someone wins the war.
Who will take the Iron Throne? We’re about to find out.

Season 8 Episodes Recap
Let the final game begin – starting with a battle in Winterfell.
Episode 1: Winterfell
Jon and Daenerys, with a huge combined army, arrive at Winterfell to bad news. As the North prepares for war, scepticism around Daenerys and the promised Lannister troops begin to take hold.
In King’s Landing, Euron and Cersei continue to build the union with the Iron Islands and Golden Company – with Cersei making a bold move to get everyone out of her way.
Theon Greyjoy rescues his sister Yara, and together they make a plan to help the North and retake the Iron Islands as their own.
Another Stark reunion occurs, as Jon and Daenerys continue to get closer and prove a powerful union to be reckoned with.
More people arrive at Winterfell as they prepare for one of the biggest battles Westeros could ever face.
Episode 2: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Jaime comes face-to-face with Bran for the first time since crippling him, and betrays sister Cersei with a new alliance.
Daenerys begins to doubt her trust in Tyrion, and attempts to win over Sansa Stark to strengthen her claim to the throne.
On the eve of battle, the preparing army uses their precious remaining time to focus on fulfilling life experiences and being recognised for what they deserve.
For Jon, this means revealing his true heritage to Daenerys, who realises what this means for her position to take the Iron Throne.

Episode 3: The Long Night
The Battle of Winterfell is officially on, with the Stark, Arryn and Targaryen armies working as one to finally defeat the White Walkers and their Army of the Dead.
With hundreds of casualties, at least eight named fan favourites don’t survive as the ultimate war against fire and ice takes place.
Things get more complicated when the Night King uses his ability to raise the dead – causing any slain member of the living army to convert with their death.
When Jon and Daenerys are both occupied in battle, it takes someone small, cunning and quick-witted to come face-to-face with the Night King, in a bid to bring the entire Army down once and for all.
Episode 4: The Last of the Starks
With the battle now over, the survivors are allowed a rare moment of peace – prompting old friends to become lovers, and long-denied children being allowed to recognise their birthright.
Arya is given a proposal by Gendry, and Daenerys makes a request of Jon to further assert her right to the throne.
The remaining Stark children reunite briefly, with Jon informing them of something that could change the game.
Those who remain begin to part ways for new missions and tasks – with Daenerys setting her sights on King’s Landing with her army, while Jon leads the Northern army. Jaime, Arya and The Hound also have their own scores to settle.
However, they have people waiting for them at Dragonstone, and one of their own is taken captive.
With new information, Varys and Tyrion argue over who should truly rule Westeros, and a shocking death sets the stage for chaos.

Episode 5: The Bells
Varys pleads with Jon to claim his birthright for the throne, but the betrayal to Daenerys has devastating consequences.
King’s Landing becomes a battleground as Daenerys makes her bid to take the city – but no one is prepared for her next move as her taste for power and vengeance begins to take over.
Among those infiltrating King’s Landing is Jaime - in a bid to get to Cersei – Arya and The Hound, each with their own personal missions that could see them killed.
Not all of our favourites make it out alive as Cersei plays her last card to maintain control of Westeros.
Episode 6: The Iron Throne
The new world order of Westeros is made as the fates of every character is finally revealed.
As Daenerys succumbs to her family’s long-held desire for ‘fire and blood’, her quest power begins to extend beyond the Seven Kingdoms, alienating those who have long been loyal to her as they fear what she could become.
Out of options, Jon Snow makes a move that results in the complete destruction of the Iron Throne as we know it.
As the game comes to an end, those who remain begin to rebuild Westeros under a new regime, while others decide to break free of the continent completely and see more of what the world has to offer.
