Warning: Major spoilers ahead

Carrie

Carrie joins Duncan for dinner at his apartment, and as part of his biography for Margaret Thatcher, he asks Carrie to read it to have an ‘outside female eye’. She says she’ll read his if he reads hers too.

Once home, she calls Aidan, who tells her that he’s coming to see her for a week as Wyatt is away at a wilderness camp.

However, once he gets there, he tries to be romantic by throwing a pebble at his window – but smashes it. He offers to get it fixed, but because it was an antique glass it’s not so easy to do.

He then reveals that Wyatt refused to get on the plane to the camp, changing his mind at the last minute.

Finding an old glass warehouse in Pennsylvania, Aidan encourages her to go on a road trip, but she says no. While he promises to find a place nearer, she wakes in the morning and discovers a note saying he had snuck off to Scranton anyway to get the window repaired for her.

When he arrives home with four doors, Aidan is in a panic, saying that the window can’t be fixed, and when she tries to calm him down, he delivers a bombshell – he slept with Cathy.

While he promises it won’t happen again, Carrie is in shock, but says she understands how it happened, and they never agreed not to sleep with other people - especially not for five years. He says that was what he promised and the pair realise they’d never had the discussion before.

Despite the confession, the pair sleep together and Carrie says she still wants them to be together.

They stick together throughout Lisa's father’s funeral, with Carrie asserting that they were stronger as a result. However, in the morning before he leaves, Duncan drops off the chapter of his book as promised, and Aidan looks unnerved.

Miranda

Spending the night at Joy’s house, Miranda is woken by her dogs and a cup of coffee. She receives a message from Seema about a potential apartment, which excites her. Miranda also asks if Joy would be willing to meet her son, Brady.

On a house hunt with Seema, Miranda begins to consider Joy in her options - particularly a near-perfect apartment that’s unfortunately pet-free.

As Joy prepares to meet Brady, she warns her that she worries about children - fearing they don’t like her or she doesn’t know how to talk to them, which is why she’s never dated someone with kids before.

When Brady arrives though, he immediately loves the dogs and seems to get on well with Joy.

Charlotte

Charlotte heads to the cancer centre but runs into old friend Bitsy outside. Panicking, she claims that she’s just volunteering, eager to keep Harry’s secret, which works but ultimately causes more problems as she mentions events Bitsy isn’t invited to.

After Harry’s appointment, Charlotte is keen to keep spirits up, noting there’s a 98% success rate of beating prostate cancer. Harry is concerned about the potential side effects but is swaying towards surgery.

Charlotte’s upbeat nature is broken when she hears Lisa’s father had died, and she tries to speak to Harry, who is busy focusing on the game on TV.

Heading to an event at Tiffany’s, Charlotte struggles to keep it together for Carrie, blaming her sadness on Lisa’s father’s death. Bitsy makes it into the event, but Charlotte puts her foot in it again by mentioning another event she’s not aware of.

Eventually, after the funeral, when Carrie spots her picking up adult diapers at a CVS, Charlotte breaks down and tells her everything about Harry’s diagnosis – finally opening the floodgates and admitting she was terrified Harry might die.

Lisa

At work, Lisa continues to get close to Marion as they edit the project, turning off her phone to spend time with him.

As they talk, Marion reveals he’s married, but they’re interrupted by Herbert who drops by the studio and asks to speak to Lisa in private.

He reveals that her father had a stroke and has died suddenly, leaving her heartbroken and feeling guilty that she had chosen work over answering her phone.

She shares the loss with Charlotte, but stops crying when her father’s theatre manager, Lucille Hightower, sends her an email inviting her to her own dad’s funeral. Fuming, she finds her sadness turning to rage.

Meeting up with Lucille (Jenifer Lewis) in New Jersey, she confronts her about sending out the funeral invite, but Lucille doubles down, saying her father had told her for all previous issues “not to bother her”.

Lucille later recognises she’s crossed the line, but notes she just wanted to honour the man she spent most of her life with, working on the theatre. Lisa begrudgingly agrees to let Lucille help with the “homecoming” funeral.

Lucille appears to come through with the simple and quaint funeral, held at the theatre, but Lisa is upset when she’s only given three minutes. Lucille then opens the show with a medley, with a string of theatrical performers throughout the evening.

The gang come out in force to support her, but Lisa struggles to speak through her speech, still struggling with the grief and guilt of not being there to say goodbye. Herbert steps in and helps her finish off the speech.

Her mother later tells her not to feel guilty, and to remember him for what he was.

Seema

With Seema tightening her budget, she is forced to give up her driver, having a heartfelt goodbye with him before getting out of the car.

When she meets with Miranda, she gets annoyed when she advises Miranda to spend $150,000 over asking price, which Miranda refuses to do “on principle”.

She comes through with another option, but Miranda finds problems with it too.
