What happens in And Just Like That: Season 3, Episode 5 – ‘Under the Table’?

Warning: Major spoilers ahead

Carrie

At Carrie’s house, she finds herself falling out with her downstairs neighbour, Duncan, who hears her walking around in her heels, clattering on his ceiling as a result. He asks her to take her heels off, but she says that’s ‘too far’.

She later vents her issues with the girls, but Miranda and Charlotte stop short when they realise the neighbour is Duncan Reeves – a famed biographer. Miranda is a huge fan and urges her to be nice.

Later, when just with Charlotte, she updates her on Aidan, saying that she has reached a point of realism with him, knowing it won’t quite be the romantic resolution she wants.

Carrie tries to make amends with Duncan, gifting him a hamper. He invites her in and offers her tea, but she declines, though tries to find common ground with him as a writer. In response, he gives her a pair of slippers, which she declines.

Her mood is perked up when she gets a surprise delivery from Aidan – the table she desperately wanted, but is left annoyed by Duncan’s comments, quickly buying a bunch of runners around the house and insisting everyone walk on them.

She texts Samantha to get intel on Duncan, and she’s told he’s “A lot of fun”, though Carrie doesn’t quite believe it.

That night, Carrie is woken up by Shoe crawling over her face but gets a shock when she sees Miranda walking naked through her apartment. The next morning, she discovers Duncan had yelled at Adam, stopping his work in the garden.

Despite Carrie offering Miranda somewhere to stay, Carrie’s patience quickly wears thin as she takes her food and spills drinks over her new table.

When smoke fills Duncan’s apartment, she walks in and helps him put the fire out. In a bid to bury the hatchet, the pair head out to dinner together, talking about their shared work and enjoying their time together.

Later that evening, as she returns home, she decides to take her shoes off.

Miranda

Miranda is suffering from neighbour problems of her own, with them playing heavy metal music all hours of the day. She leaves a note under the door, and it seems to work, but it later continues.

When she tries to take it up with her Airbnb host, he refuses to budge, saying he’s not supposed to be renting the apartment. When she leaves another note, the neighbour opens the door completely naked with a meat cleaver, and after that shock, she moves in with Carrie.

Seizing the opportunity, Miranda immediately makes herself known to Duncan, getting him to sign her book.

Later that evening, she heads to Dolly's apartment, where the duo get intimate - though her greyhounds aren’t too happy about being put outside, whining through the door and disturbing them.

Back at Carrie’s, she soon makes herself too comfortable quickly, getting under her skin by eating her food.

Charlotte

Charlotte and Harry go for a walk together, with him wanting to talk to her. He reveals he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Charlotte is panicked, but he tries to calm her down, saying they caught it early and he won’t die. He makes her promise not to not tell anyone, and to carry on as normal. She wants to cancel the glamping trip that weekend, but he refuses.

Lily and Roq both try to get out of the glamping weekend, but Charlotte refuses to budge, telling them they have to go whether they want to or not.

Once they’re there, Charlotte noticeably fusses around Harry, who is being attacked by bugs, and wants the weekend to be perfect.

However, with Harry attracting bites, the family end up trapped in their tent on the devices. Charlotte encourages them to make the most of it, but they don’t want to move, and she struggles to keep Harry’s secret.

Lisa

Lisa takes some time away from work to join Herbert, the family and the Goldenblatts on the glamping getaway.

When Herbert sees a selfie of Lisa with her new editor Marion on her phone, he finds himself annoyed due to his attractiveness – suggesting there’s something going on, which upsets her.

Storming off, she finds Charlotte by the pier, and the pair decide to hit the spa together. She later confesses to having a work crush on Marion. When she notices Charlotte is off, she asks if her friend is OK, and comforts her even though Charlotte doesn’t give her an answer.

Seema

Seema heads to the bank to try and get a loan from the bank for an office for her business. As she waits for answers, she heads to Carrie’s house and flirts with Adam while smoking in the garden.

Unfortunately, Seema is declined for her bank loan but is hired by Miranda to help her find an apartment.
