Untold UK: Jamie Vardy tracks the ultimate underdog story of the titular football player, who rose from a non-league player to one of the biggest players in the Premier League.

Starting his career as a child, Vardy would be working factory shifts in Sheffield while dreaming of making it to the big time.

Through perseverance and determination, he was able to achieve that dream, going from part-time player to a proven goal scorer who helped bring Leicester City to the Premier League, defying insurmountable odds against them.

Now Vardy takes a trip down memory lane for this special, joined by teammates, managers, friends from home and more to discuss the ups and downs of his journey.

Joining Vardy and wife Rebekah to share their stories are Nigel Pearson, Wes Morgan, Marc Albrighton, Andy King, John Morris, Brett Lovell, Dave Rennie and Rob Tanner.

Born in 1987, Jamie Vardy was raised by his mother Lisa Clewes and his stepfather, Phil Vardy, later taking his name.

Growing up in Hillsborough, Sheffield, Vardy was a lifelong Sheffield Wednesday fan and would play on their youth team until he was let go at the age of 16.

From there, he played at Stockbridge Park Steels’, starting as a reserve before making his first team debut in 2006. During this time, he was also working as a technician making medical splints.

He helped the team win the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup and promotion to the Northern Premier League during the 2008–09, before signing to FC Halifax Town in 2010.

At the end of his first season he was the club’s top goal scorer.

From that point Vardy has continued to propel his career, playing for teams including Fleetwood Town and Leicester City, which saw him enter the Premier League.

He was called up to play for England for the first time in 2015 and appeared for the squad 26 times, scoring seven goals.

As of the 2025-26 season, he now plays for Unione Sportiva Cremonese in Italy.

He has been married to Rebekah Vardy since 2016, and together they have three children. Rebekah has an additional two children from a previous relationship, and Vardy has one.

At the time of writing, Untold UK is made up of three episodes – all released within the same span of a month in May 2026.
