The Last of Us is back as Joel and Ellie’s story about survival and humanity in the midst of a world-ending outbreak continues.

Now seemingly safe in Wyoming among a community of survivors, their once solid father-daughter-like bond has been shaken, and a new group have come looking to bring Joel to justice.

Joining Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey this season are new additions including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Young Mazino as Jesse.

Following up from the first season in 2023, The Last of Us continued to be a crowd-pleaser, earning a massive 92% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Radio Times noted in their review: “More than ever, we see the best and worst of our heroes, with the writers beautifully showing their morality in every shade of grey.”

Where to watch The Last of Us in the UK

All episodes of The Last of Us are now available on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

Season 2 Episodes Recap

Season two contains seven episodes and picks up Joel and Ellie’s story five years on from the events of season one, with the pair living at a community in Wyoming.

Episode 1 - ‘Future Days’

Now living in Jackson, Wyoming, Ellie and Joel’s once tight bond has become strained in the years since we saw them last. Joel seeks help from psychotherapist Gail, while Ellie finds herself growing close to fellow survivor, Dina.

When Dina and Ellie’s new romance causes a stir from a bar owner, Joel steps in to help them – but Ellie wants him to stay away.

As tension continues to simmer, danger lurks around them, with more than one threat making its way towards the community.

Episode 2 - ‘Through the Valley’

With a laser-focus on her mission to exact revenge on Joel, Abby and her friends begin to scope out the Jackson compound.

However, things go sideways when a group of infected are alerted to their whereabouts and come after them.

As they’re saved, the horde turns towards the Jackson community, who have to come together to protect their home.

But vengeance runs deep, and the creatures attacking Jackson quickly become the least of Joel and Ellie’s problems – leading to a devastating loss.

Episode 3 - ‘The Path’

Three months on from episode two’s events, the Wyoming community debate sending a group to Seattle to face off against the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) who are responsible for the tragedy.

When the plan is rejected, Ellie decides to go it alone, but knowing she is not fully prepared, Dina opts to join her.

However, what lies beyond the safety of Jackson’s walls shocks them, with the pair encountering the massacred bodies of a group known as “Seraphites” who bear scars on their faces and wield simple weapons. And as they reach Seattle, the full scale of the WLF’s strength is revealed.

Episode 4 - ‘Day One’

WLF commander Isaac Dixon’s past is revealed. As the war between Seraphites and the WLF continues, Ellie and Dina become witness to the devastation it’s left behind.

Narrowly escaping a horde of infected, the pair reach the safety of a theatre and Ellie is forced to come clean about her immunity – prompting Dina to make a confession of her own.

The next day, new intel sees them aim towards a new destination.

Episode 5 - ‘Feel Her Love’

After her confession, Ellie has doubts about having Dina with her during this next leg of the mission.

When they are ambushed by a new breed of infected, they are saved by a familiar face, but there’s little time for a sweet reunion as they are hunted by both the WLF and Seraphites.

Ellie tracks down WLF member Nora in order to extract information on Abby and the pair face off – but in a place where one has a distinct advantage.

Episode 6 - ‘The Price’

In a flashback episode, Joel and Ellie’s five years together in Wyoming is explored.

While they kept their father-daughter like bond throughout their years, especially on Ellie’s birthday, Joel continues to lie about what he did to the Fireflies.

But one brazen decision prompts Ellie to tell the truth to someone who's hurt by his lies, before finally confronting him about what he’s been hiding from her all these years.

Episode 7 - ‘Convergence’

As Ellie opens up to Dina about what happened between her and Nora, she begins to realise just how far her rage goes – and how easy it is to unleash.

While Jesse tries to track down Tommy, Ellie continues her mission to find Abby, while the WLF begin a major assault on the Seraphites.

After a fraught journey, Ellie finally finds Abby’s camp. However, things do not go as expected. Returning to base, Ellie’s actions quickly catch up with her.
