
Who’s in The Idol?
Starring Abel ‘The Weeknd” Tesafaye as Tedros and Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, The Idol is a provocative drama set against the backdrop of Hollywood’s music industry. Brought to you by Sam Levinson, creator of Euphoria, the series follows the story of Jocelyn, a rising pop star, who faces the challenges of fame as she navigates a relationship with club owner Tedros.
Numerous big-name stars also feature in the series, including Jennie Ruby Jane (best known for being a member of K-pop band Blackpink) and Australian singer-songwriter, Troye Sivan.
Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye)
Meet Tedros, a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will his relationship with Jocelyn take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?
Abel Tesfaye, aka “The Weeknd”, is a Canadian singer, songwriter and actor. Tesfaye earned critical acclaim when his second album reached number one in the US. Tesfaye made his acting debut in the film Uncut Gems (2019).

Jocelyn (Lily Rose-Depp)
Jocelyn is an aspiring pop idol who, after a nervous breakdown derailed her last tour, is determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America.
Lily-Rose Depp is a French-American actress and model. Her illustrious acting career began with a cameo role in Tusk (2014), where she worked alongside her father, Johnny Depp. As a model, Rose-Depp has been the brand ambassador for Chanel since 2015.

Xander (Troye Sivan)
Xander is Jocelyn’s creative director. But more than that, he’s one of her closest friends and one of the few who has her best interests at heart.
Troye Sivan is an Australian singer-songwriter, actor and YouTube star. As of 2021, he has over 7.3 million subscribers on YouTube, as well as three well-received studio albums. Sivan has also acted in a number of roles, such as a supporting role in Boy Erased (2018).

Leia (Rachel Sennott)
Leia is Jocelyn’s assistant and best friend. Like Xander, she is protective of Jocelyn and is seemingly the voice-of-reason.
Rachel Sennott is an American actress and comedian, best known for her roles in Shiva Baby (2020), and Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022). In 2019, she was named one of the six best comedians of the alt scene on lists from both Time Out New York and Pop Dust.

Nikki (Jane Adams)
Nikki is Jocelyn’s record label executive. Despite not completely agreeing with Jocelyn’s new image, she does her best to promote Jocelyn.
Jane Adams is an American actress and screenwriter, who has predominantly appeared in independent cinema films. She is more widely known following roles in mainstream films including You’ve Got Mail and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events as well as TV roles in Hung, for which she received a Golden Globe, and Hacks.

Destiny (Da’Vine Joy Randolph)
Destiny is Jocelyn’s close confidante and her co-manager. She is very supportive of Jocelyn, in both her career and personal life.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph is an American actress and singer, who first gained recognition for her role in the Broadway production of Ghost: The Musical. This role saw her earn a Tony Award nomination.

Dyanne (Jennie Ruby Jane)
Dyanne is Jocelyn’s lead dancer and the person who is out clubbing with her when she first meets Tedros.
Jennie Ruby Jane is a South Korean rapper and singer, most well-known as a member of the K-pop band, Blackpink. In 2018, Jennie made her solo debut with the single "Solo", which reached commercial success. The Idol will mark Jennie’s acting debut.

Izaak (Moses Sumney)
Izaak is part of Tedros’ group of friends and later begins dating Jocelyn’s assistant, Leia.
Moses Sumney is a Ghanaian-American singer-songwriter, who has also acted in a number of roles including Venom (2018) and Queen & Slim (2019).

Talia (Hari Nef)
Talia is a journalist from Vanity Fair, who interviews Jocelyn for a large profile piece.
Hari Nef is an American actress, model and writer whose breakthrough role was Gittel in the Amazon original series Transparent. She has also starred in Netflix series You and will feature in the yet-to-be-released Barbie movie.

Benjamin (Dan Levy)
Benjamin is Jocelyn’s publicist. His job is to promote Jocelyn and help her achieve her dreams of becoming the greatest pop star which sees him clash with a controlling Tedros.
Dan Levy is a Canadian actor, writer and producer. He received critical acclaim for his role as David Rose in the sitcom Schitt’s Creek, which he co-created with his father. For this, Levy became the first person to win an Emmy in all four major disciplines in a single year.

Chaim (Hank Azaria)
Chaim is part of Jocelyn’s entourage and serves as a co-manager.
Hank Azaria is an American comedian and actor who is best-known for his role voicing several characters in The Simpsons.
