Anthony Bourdain had no reservations about a move to CNN. Shortly after concluding an eight-season stint at the helm of his popular Travel Channel series, the equally popular Emmy-winning host came to the news network searching for `Parts Unknown'. In the hourlong weekend series - similar in premise to Travel's `No Reservations' - Bourdain explores the world to, he says, `eat and drink with people without fear and prejudice ... they open up to you in ways that somebody visiting who is driven by a story may not get'. Enticed by the opportunity to experience cultures rarely visited by American TV, such as in the Congo, Libya and Myanmar, the chef and best-selling author also takes viewers to Colombia, Peru, Morocco and, closer to home, Koreatown in Los Angeles.

Episode 1Los Angeles

Bourdain takes an alternative tour of the city, focusing on the Latino communities, from Oaxaqueno specialities at Gish Bac and to dinner with Danny Trejo at Trejo's Cantina.

Episode 2San Sebastian

Bourdain visits the coastal city of San Sebastian for seared wild mushrooms and foie gras with raw egg yolk at Ganbara, and Basque delicacy grilled turbot at Elkano.

Episode 3Laos

In Laos, Bourdain enjoys a boat festival, dines on imperial dishes at the Ban Lao hotel, and meets locals who have fallen victim to active bombs that still pepper the countryside.

Episode 4Queens

Bourdain discovers a hub of cuisines and cultures in the New York City borough of Queens, where he eats a Tibetan dinner in Jackson Heights and samples Chinese food in Flushing.

Episode 5Antarctica

Bourdain's adventures at the bottom of the earth include a snowmobile drive over 8-foot thick sea ice, a visit to a colony of Adele penguins, and a trip to the South Pole.

Episode 6Oman

On his first journey to Oman, Bourdain visits the port city Muttrah for shuwa, a special dish made from a complex process of cooking meat buried in the ground for days over hot coals.

Episode 7Trinidad

Bourdain visits Port of Spain in Trinidad, a city of African, Indian, Chinese and Middle Eastern influence, where he dines on curried duck, doubles and fish in tahini sauce.

Episode 8Porto, Portugal

Bourdain's trip to Porto includes a pig tripe dinner at A Cozinha do Martinho, an at-home meal of sea lamprey, and a stop at Cafe O Afonso for local specialty francesinha.
