The residents of the rural Scottish village of Glendarroch deal with community issues ranging from crop failures and parish pump politics to infidelity, alcoholism, drug abuse, and more.
Maggie is spreading gossip about Alan's departure down at the Blair's Store. Elizabeth continues to battle with Miss Steedman. David Blair clears up some of Maggie's rumours to Elizabeth.
Maggie tells Brian exactly how she feels about him. Elizabeth checks in on Grace and informs Miss Steedman of her appointment in Frankfurt. Brian tells Isabel his reasons for his past behaviour.
Archie believes Mrs Cunningham has too much on her plate. Isabel is struck down with the cold leaving Brian to take care of the shop. David finds Elizabeth walking home after her car breaks down.
The Strathmorrises make a visit to the Cunningham house to see Elizabeth. Det Sgt McLean comes to question Brian over the recent attack on a young women. Hamish informs Dougal of their problem.
Isabel talks to Brian about the police visit and gives him some advice. Grace encourages Alice to get on with her life. Kirsty believes she has found the culprit of the recent sheep deaths.
Brian's mind is put at ease as the police reveal who the attacker was. Miss Steedman continues to badger Lorna for company files. David and Kirsty catch the culprit in the act.
Bob is attacked and bitten by two dogs that are quickly chased of by the guard dogs. Brian and Isabel talk about David's leave from his family. A prowler is spotted hanging around Blair's Store.
The Strathmorrises are confronted by Elizabeth and Miss Steedman about their recent actions. Dougal and Hamish come across another victim of the wild dogs. Ken warns Brian about the prowler.
The prowler is revealed as an old acquaintance of Brian's. Dougal has to deliver the bad news to Mrs Armstrong. Miss Steedman finds out a little more about her future.
Brian and Ken hatch a plan in order to be rid of the unwanted guest at the Blair household. Miss Steedman has become very cynical after her recent discoveries. Mrs Armstrong has gone missing.
Dougal feels responsible for the recent death of Mrs Armstrong. Grace continues to encourage Alice to get on with her life. Brian tries to find out what happened between Ken and Malky.
Lorna goes to the Blairs Store to try and find out Kens whereabouts. David and Kirsty continue to spend time together. Alice is upset after having words with Grace.
Ken shows up and shares the story of what happened between him and Malky. Isabel bumps into Kirsty and had a chat to her about David. Fiona finds out about her fathers news from her mother.
Archie is getting a hard time from Mrs Archie about booking a holiday. Dougal talks to his mother about giving Alice a hard time. Bob and Alice have a fight about setting a date for their marriage.
Archie gets a surprise when he catches David and Kirsty sharing a moment. There is a polio outbreak in Glendarroch prompting the Dr to try and get the stubborn locals vaccinated.
Archie eagerly awaits the results of the race standing in the way of him and his winnings. With Alices doubts about her relationship Bob lets her know about his job opportunity.
Alice finds it hard to relax with the guests. David's wife Helen arrives in Glendarroch and has a few questions for him. Fiona and Jimmy try to drum up some franchise business.
Archie is still finding it hard to track down Maggie with his winnings. Maggie is hiding out at the water sports head quarters where Sorry puts her in her place. Morag pays a visit to Dougal.
Archie feels bitter towards Maggie after she failed to put on his bet. Sorry tries to make up to Archie for Maggie's carelessness. Jimmy and Fiona try to meet with Mr Lambert before Sorry.
Jimmy and Fiona sit down for a meeting with Sorry and Mr Lambert to discuss the franchise. Kirsty tracks David down at Laird's Point. David announces to the rest of the Blairs his plans to divorce.
A good time is had by all on the double date. Fiona and Jimmy feel they are not being given a chance to sign and see Sorry's help as interference. Dougal is taken aback with the cost of eating out.
Dougal continues to complain about the price of eating out. Grace tells Dougal that he needs to get himself and baby Donald vaccinated. David catches Helen on the phone to mysterious caller.
Jimmy and Fiona try and close the deal with Mr Lambert. Bob continues to drag his heels with getting the polio vaccine. Maggie continues to try and stop the people of Glendarroch being vaccinated.
Elizabeth appoints Douglas Dunbar as the new factor and he reveals his views on the Glendarroch Estate to the board. Jimmy persuades his father to go for a job at the saw mill.
Herr Meier and Elizabeth continue their meeting to discuss the estate's future. Brian manages to get himself an interview for a job at the saw mill. Douglas introduces himself around Glendarroch.
Herr Meier and Douglas have a brief meeting. Fiona continues to be unhappy with Jimmy's relationship with Alison and makes it known. Fiona finds out the outcome of the franchise deal.
After missing the Lachlans previously Douglas makes a morning visit. Glendarroch Water Sports are preparing to open for business.Maggie helps her self to a look at private files while Lorna is busy.
Alice and Bob make a visit to the minister to book a date for the wedding. Elizabeth meets with Douglas to discuss Brian's recent interview. Archie's finding it hard to warm to the new factor.
An accident at Glendarroch Aqua Sports could bring trouble for Jimmy and Fiona. Bob and Dougal aren't thrilled by the news that they will begin to attend church regularly.
Isabel's forgetfulness is causing concern. Maggie gossips about the previous day's accident at Aqua Sports and Jimmy is worried about the future of the business.
